I love the leaded glass window on the side too! That is a great sized coop!
Me too. Love everything about it. My poor hubby. One of these days, he's going to

"to the moon, Alice!!" I learned enough about framing from doing this last one though, that I could build it myself. We'll see if he lets that happen. He thinks that building things is his job. Goofy guy.

Anyone have any tips on what to do if the power goes out when incubating eggs? I am only on day 4 and I dont wanna loose them but its really bad here crossing fingers it doesnt go out!
A short cooling off period won't harm them. I know some people will disagree with me, but if my power went out, I'd throw a blanket over the incubator to help retain heat. You have a fairly big one, yes? That will also retain heat longer than a small one.

Sweetlilbaby- I am so sorry they did not hatch. I really wish that at least some had hatched. But like you said, I would wash out your incubator really good for next time.

CR- The eggs were from me, and I know that they were fertile because I only gathered eggs from the girls that I saw my roos get that week. As for age of the eggs the oldest ones were about 4 days old when I sent them to her and if I remember right it only took one day to get to her. I did not wash the eggs, only gave her clean ones.
I had just hatched about 9 out of 12 eggs with a broody about two weeks before.

The wind and rain woke me up this am. I listened for awhile, decided there was nothing I really needed to do in the mess, went back to sleep. Finally move my lazy butt outta the bed about an hour ago. Hurump! Fed the doggie, heated up a cup of joe from yesterday, had a sandwich and got caught up here finally.

I actually had some sunshine here for a short period of time. This is not going to be a very productive day for me I think.

Mornin' Mikey!

I felt that way this morning, but had no choice, lo - those bills will not pay themselves, no matter how nicely I ask them....sigh...

On a surprise note this morning, I have a cavity!!!

It decided that it would let me know it was there, by crumbling 1/3 of my tooth away after this morning's breakfast...Yippee! Dentist appt in 30 mins.....

LOL....breathe....breathe.....this too shall pass......oh, wait, bunnies multiply faster than chickens. Nevermind. :D :yiipchick

Don't talk bunnies. Our Champagne D'Argent kindled with ten babies three days ago. She tossed them all out of the nest, so we put them back. That  night she tossed them out again and all of them died.

So very sorry.

I'm trying to comfort an strengthen myself with the knowledge that animals are not immortal as Gerald Durrell wrote in the first book about his Jersey zoo, but it isn't cutting it for me. You can't keep rabbits from being rabbits, I can't stop cattle from getting old or chickens from being subject to chickenish ills, but doesn't it always feel as if we should be able, if we just never made any mistakes nor had any bad luck, keep everything alive forever?
