Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I just went out to check for eggs and say goodnight to my sweeties and I found Willow, my beautiful blue Ameraucana dead in a nest box. I don't know what happened. I went out around 1pm to get eggs and say hello and all was well with them all. I even talked specifically to Willow and nothing about her seemed problematic. Could she have been egg bound? Her vent looks a little odd like stuck with some poop coming out...

I'm so upset, she was such a pretty bird and finally beginning to come around to me being her owner; she finally let me pet her when she was on the roost when the lights were on without a squawking fit.

Without doing a necropsy on her, you can only speculate as to what may have happened. Could have been any number of things. But it still stinks when you find them dead when they were fine(in appearance) earlier.

I'm so sorry. :(

Well, my DH had a massage tonight, something to help with his pain and mobility issues that I wish we could afford three times as often, and then came home and fell over to relax for a while.

So I went out and moved some muck from Ian's run and then came in and cleaned up and am now waiting to go get some stuff at Target, if he gets out of bed.

I had tea late- later sunsets every day too often means I crawl into the house with my blood glucose reading in the double digits- so I've got maybe 45 minutes until I need dinner. Oh, well, something to remember tomorrow afternoon, when 4H Guy is coming for the roosters.

I agree with all of you! I would never say that I do this parenting thing right, just doing the best that I can. Man I have heard some interesting things from other parents ever sense I became a parent, but I was a teenaged mom. I got pregnant at 16 and my DD was born just a few months after I turned 17. I had the "bright" idea to take my 2 week old baby to the mall for a few hours. As my friend and I walked out of a store, this lady came up to me and said...."Wow, what a beautiful baby. Are you going to keep her?" I said, "Nope, I brought her here to advertise her for sale."

I have so many interesting stories from being a teenaged mom and how I was so horrible for having a child and that I could never do my child right. I love watching super nanny, because it just shows that even people of the "correct" age screw up their kids just as much as teen parents do.

That's awesome, and you sound just like me. 16 and preggers with my sweet boy, turned 17 in Jan and he was born mid Feb. LOL! Are you sure you're going to keep her?

Today was our first three-egg day! Ada is the only hold-out.

Easter Egger, Rhode Island Red, and Cuckoo Marans. :) So exciting!
Yay!!! Pretty pretty eggies!!

On the flip side of kids having a mud fight.........................

I joined my kids in the fun and we hosed each other off.
Life is way to short.
Memories last forever.
That's the right attitude!

Don't ya know my poor little broody hen is going to play heck keeping her future babies warm this evening?

Now I might have to trudge back out to the shed and hook up a heat lamp.

honestly, I am going to blame the Chicken Rustler- because when I called his house the person who answered was talking about THEIR SNOW and I think it transmitted thru the land line all the way up here!

The snow is STILL falling here- those pictures were taken over an hour ago.
