Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Winter just makes me completely nuts, no kidding- even when I'm busy outside all the time, the mere fact that I run out of a single item can make every project grind to a halt. People who think I've somehow perversely chosen not to drive are... lacking in kindness.

Anyway, hit submit instead of return: like the fence, as I like ALL well built fences I do not have to put up, trouble-shoot, or maintain. In general, my thought is the more fences the less bother, although looking at the prices on the unclimable goat fence at Del's was a heart-stopping experience.
Yeas, this was a no-climb fence, plus 6 strand hot-wire to keep critters out. Works great for four legged ones, but not aerial ones. It didn't come cheap. Th only issue was in the ice storms last year, we had a couple of trees come down on the fence and had to get it repaired. Other than that it's really no work at all.

And, as far as not driving, I don't think it matters the reason. People simply should NOT (edit) be unkind to anyone. It just shows what horrible people they really are. Plus, there's a saying I think. something about glass houses and stones. . . . (too many folks out there driving who shouldn't be)

Kate, I'm sorry to hear you have to wear the brace loner than expected! Such a hassle!

When you get the new fences, coop and all finished it's going to look just gorgeous! It will be totally worth the effort, I'm sure. Your place has such good "bones". But what are you going to do with all your birds? Are you selling them or butchering? That in itself is going to be a job. Whew.
Well, the pond is in and needs very little work - a few more shrub round it. The grass is the major issue, but yes it will look great again.

Well, we shall probably butcher most of the ducks (if anyone's interested in some duck meat when the laying season is over, give me a holler). The chickens, I'd like to find homes for the younger ones (this year's pullets). I shall use the older ones for the crock pot.

BTW - did you cook the duck? How did it turn out? Did I miss a post or several?

Heeeeeerrrre's Honey...

(click to enlarge) If this is a cockerel, why the majorly Fluffy Bunns????

Dot is the pullet, and she is such a sweety pie! I think she looks down right elegant.

And this is Dash who is scheduled to go to SarahKatie next month. He's all boy and very smart.
Although he looks almost identical to Honey, he's darker and doesn't have fluffy bunns.

Ya know, it's really hard to be thinking about getting rid of all my chickens, when there are really mean folk out there posting cute pictures like this. Fie on you Miz Carolyn

Given that our way of life is set up for cars, and it's really difficult to get anything done without driving, I assume no one would put up with the inconvenience without a really good reason. I don't have to know what that reason is. I put off learning to drive until I had no choice.

Lord knows there are enough people who shouldn't drive, but do.

I rather hope it's by your daughter-in-law and not your son.
Well, yes, my sons mate. When not married and not carrying his name but having children and living together. What do you call them besides common law and bucking the system? I have a new grandchild coming. My husband said I wanted to take her and wrap her up in a pillow and incubate her. Her last one was so hard. 8 days in labor trying to hold back a premi. She beats every horror labor story I have heard including mine.
