How old are your babies now Dawn? Just to let you know, Lucy abandoned her 4 chicks when they were barely 5, 6, and almost 7 weeks old. They've done fine together with no heat and are now almost fully feathered. The youngest just turned 6 weeks old on Wednesday.

I will Have some hatching eggs middle to end of April for english import orps. BBS. to much fluff on some of them for american SOP but they are not american birds. Am in Monroe. a young English hen out of import stock

They'll be five weeks on Sunday =) While Frodo is still with them - they all roost side-by-side now in the evenings. It's pretty cute!

Forgot to tell you all, my Ameraucana Blueberry, a hen that has brooded chicks and layed eggs for two years, crowed this morning.

Three times in a row!

I think she was mostly mad that I was taking care of the chicks before I opened their coop door, but I got her out and then she crowed again in my arms! Darn it all.

So I carried her around for a few minutes, and tried to make her squat for me (to remind her that I am the rooster!) but she just ran away. Here's hoping that's all the crowing we hear from her!

Dawn, Love your babies! I am trying to convince myself I don't want a couple of white silkies (don't I though?), very difficult with all the cute chick pics! I see you had a Princess Buttercup too

I am so bummed guys! This weekend is supposed to be SO nice, and I have to work Sat. Who is my boss? I feel the need to protest!

I have a question for the committee -

I was given duck & goose pellets....is that ok to give to 4/5 week old chicks? (if not, ya want them Sweetlilbaby? It's about 20lbs or more)
I was also brought over layers crumble....is that ok to give them now?

Driving to Portland for a concert and mini-vaca. Disgusted by the view thru the Gorge. Those hideous windmills are everywhere! I'm plagued by them at home to as they mess up the view of the hills. If you think those monstrosities are wonderful green energy machines, tgink again! Look into what it takes to put those things up! You would be amazed at how un-green they are. If you have Netflix watch Windfall.
