Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Hinotori- I have a whole bunch of stuff that looks similar to that link. It is all over my property from previous owners. You are more than welcome to some of it, if you are interested. I was going to use some for a path in my yard, but I have enough for probably 3 yards, if not more. Then, you would just have to buy sand, or whatever you decide to use as a base.

You'd have to talk to Uncle Mervie, he's the registered owner: getting it from here to anywhere is complicated by that little legal fact.

And getting rid of the raccoons, of course, not to mention the interior stuff that needs to go to the dump.

Free is sometimes not cheap.

Getting it from there to here is mostly complicated by DW's refusal to let me.

The Raccoons would not be that much of a trouble - there's a sulfur bomb that would work just fine.

Free is almost never cheap - but I think a project like this would a a blast!

Oh -- someone asked (Caroyln?) if a Motorhome would work as well as a trailer - I'd say yes :)

Totalcolour, do you keep all 100 for your self after processing or do you sell? I'm just curious. I would like to raise some meaties, especially since I now have all the parts for a plucker, except the "fingers".
We ordered double - 50 are going to a friend, and we raise 50 for ourselves - we do sell some occasionally if we don't have room in the freezer (it's kinda full right now)

Yesterday we went out for a lovely afternoon brunch at The Cliff House restaurant overlooking the water in east Tacoma. Overall the food was good, but I noticed my BIL and DH focusing mostly on the seafood - crab, prawns, crayfish, salmon, clams all of which were pretty tasty. There were also a multitude of salads, pastas, side dishes, chicken marsala, prime rib, quiches, scrambled eggs and a nice dessert table featuring a chocolate fountain. I think DH was the only one who actually made it all the way to dessert - and this was after 3 plates full! The weather was gorgeous, the view spectacular. It was a nice way to spend part of Easter with what few members of my family were around.

But here's the payoff for me - this morning I decided to use up some ingredients in the fridge and freezer and made a skillet scramble for our own brunch. Bacon ends, hash browns o'brien, eggs, white cheddar and sunflower seeds. As DH was dishing up he says, "You know, our eggs really ARE a lot better than we can get anywhere else. Those quiches yesterday were pale and tasteless. Anything you make with our eggs has beautiful color and is a lot more flavorful".
Finally
, he sees a real benefit to our having chickens! It only took two years for him to admit they served a purpose.

Except, that I just read that it is concrete. What I have is thinner, my husband calls it shale? I don't know what that is, but to me it looks similar to flagstone. It is mostly smaller pieces, as they bulldozed a whole bunch of stuff into the ground. There are house parts from an old house that burned down, tiles, fencing, posts...it's ridiculous. Everytime it rains, new stuff surfaces. I have found some cool treasures though.

I hope everyone had as wonderful a weekend as I did. From comments here, it seems that you all have had a happy holiday.

Since I don't share the popular belief in a cosmic all powerful being (god), I don't celebrate holidays in a religious way. All my days are based on the joy of living, and enjoying the beauty that surrounds me.

Life is good.

Quote: I have a lot of "pots" in my studio that didn't turn out as well as I thought they would. Either the shape wasn't right, or the colour a bit different from my expectations. Sometimes when I fire things, the slightest difference in temperature can change the shade. So, my plan is to do a retaining wall with cement/concrete(what's the difference) and put broken coloured pottery in it, like a mosaic.

That sounds like it will be amazing!! I have always wanted to do a garden fence and gate like the lady had in Harriet the Spy.
