I should probably try to find a better food, but the question is, will they eat it? They're such twits for not wanting to eat Paul's food. When they start making their own crumble, I plan on trying that.

As for breeds, half are bantams. Six Belgian d'Anvers, an OEGB and a Silver Sebright. The latter two aren't as bad as everyone else, I've noticed. I've got an elderly barnyard mutt who is also not quite as bad; she's actually fairly sturdy for her size. The other elderly bird is a GSL, but she's quite skinny like the other LF. She's not laying, so you'd expect her to be better off. My younger birds will turn one this year. Two are BLRWs, two are Australorps, one is a BR, and the other is a BSL. They're all perfectly active and happy.

Alright, this has been bothering me for a good long time and I need to do something about it.  My chickens are and have always been way too skinny.  I don't expect them to be like Cornish X or anything, but I'd like for them to be at a healthy weight for their breed (and yes, I know that feed store birds don't quite live up to the standards of the breed).  I give them feed store crumble.  They're not fond of pellets.  I recently tried to get them to switch to Paul's wonderful food, but they decided to go on a hunger strike until I brought home a bag of their favorite crumble.  They get to come out most days while I'm outside to free-range in an environment rich with bugs, vegetation and BOSS (we feed the wild birds).  Their egg shells are good and thick.

They've been wormed with Eprinex.  Next time I'm going to use a different wormer so that the parasites don't develop a resistance.  What can I do to try to help them gain some weight?  Their breast bones are way too sharp and it makes me feel terrible, like I'm a very bad chicken parent.  If I have to, I will make them supplemental foods.  HELP!

What is the feed you are.giving them, also how much. Like do they still have food the next time you co and also have they lost weight or just always been like this. Have you ever treated for cocci?
How old are they and what breed.

SOON, I promise, we are coming to Oly to shop & we WILL stop in for a tea.
No lunch, as DH loves to hit the REAL pizza parlor when we are out, it is his treat.
The rest of the time he has to eat my (icky) GF pizza, a hard hard thing for a pizza prince.
His Dad started Round Table, brick Oven, Pizza Pantry and the famous Brahauben Pizza Parlor in South City, CA.
DH was RAISED on excellent pizza !

So we will stop in to visit a while & have a tea, see how you are getting along !
La Gitana on Capitol blvd. has unbelievably great gluten free pizza. Even my non-gluten-intolerant friends who have tried it think it's wonderful.

They've always been like that. They always have food and fresh water. They were on medicated feed as chicks, but I haven't treated them for cocci. They've never had abnormal poops and they haven't shown signs of illness.

Aaaahhh! Another beautiful day! We went to the Point Defiance Zoo, and had a grand time.

Sadly, I'm a plant junkie, and my husband is an avid enabler. I now have an empty wallet, but lots of perennials to plant! We went to Watson's Greenhouse in Puyallup today (which made my son QUITE happy, as their decorative pond is home to many tadpoles.), and I came home with flowers, and I know what birch tree I'm going to plant once may Large Plant Transport Vehicle gets out of the shop later this week. So a great time was had by all. Even the dog, who I just washed Monday, found some nice fresh chicken poop to roll in.

Once my hubby is done mowing, I'm going to let The Girls out to find all the newly-exposed bugs in the yard, and as an added bonus, I have some canteloupe rinds for them.

A happy evening in Eatonville.
