Well it's been a busy couple of days around here!  Yesterday I took my DiL and her two little girls to Cowgirlgrace's to get 2 Wheaten Ameraucanas. ........

My chicks have gotten SO big now.  Even though the weather is wet and nasty out there I spent my first few hours this morning making a few more mods to get them out there NOW!  I figured out how to get the light installed safely since it may get into the 30s again this week (no small task).   And how to better secure the vent in the front of their dog house coop (I just wasn't sure what I'd put in the other day was strong enough).  Then I had to figure out how to get power to the light.   And I decided I wanted to construct a "daytime door" so they aren't in total darkness 24/7 while they're locked in there for the next few days.  You'd laugh your head off if you saw what I made!!!   But I'm comfortable that it will keep them secure and let in light.  Then I had to rig up something for water.  Their nipple waterer can't hang inside the dog house coop and the other waterer is in with DGDs new chicks.  If it works I'll take a picture and post it later. 

This afternoon I'm meeting SarahKatie to deliver my little roo named Dash.  It's time for him to join his new family before he gets any bigger.  I'll miss him, but it's good. 

So... On my way home from Bellevue today, chicken math took over... Stopped at Kummer poultry and picked up 2 barnevelders and 2 welsummers, 3-4 weeks/pullets, went to gig harbor and grabbed Dash(6 wks), then chicken math attacked and I figured I was so close to cgg's, I just HAD to stop by and say hello, LOL, and left with 2 wheaten pullets, 3-4 weeks.....

So, now I have 10 chicks/teenagers in my 3x2 crate(it seems a bit small ;-) I am hoping it rains tomorrow so my softball tourney is canceled and then I can work on the 'shelter' for my grow out coop....
And best yet, Mikeyb said he would come supervise my use of power tools ;-D so I will have company :-D .... IF it RAINS, that is

Carolyn, Dash is holding true to form and insists on sleeping between the crate door and his 'ladies' .... He also seems to enjoy having the 'chick pile' almost on top of him...

Oh geeze well funny story my first 3 were born WITH teeth already cut... my oldest daughter had her top two and bottom two and both my boys had their bottom two.... This one is my only one without any teeth... From what we can see she is gettin 3 at once and shes only 10 weeks old... Her dr said thats early.... Now if only my 6 year olds teeth would come in we would be good...

Oh My!!! My little one's big toenails weren't even finished when she was born let alone having teeth! Ouch!

What I wouldn't do for a newbie to walk all night again. I wish we could have more babies! I miss sleepless nights

I'm with you there! Babies were very slow to come into our home. Frankly, nature didn't want us to be parents, but fortunately God did! We'd been married 11 years before we adopted our son, and I gave birth to our daughter almost 4 years later. Given my age (which I will NOT quote here!), more babies are not going to happen. I'm just treasuring every moment with the kiddos I have!

He sounds happy! His 3 siblings are outside in their doghouse coop for the first night. I took pity on them, they looked cold so I turned on the red light. When I checked on them about an hour later they were huddled in back peeping in the glow of the light. I think they'll be fine and so will I. I'm a big softy!

I've done one show; Monroe. I sent in my entry with my fee. I think it was $5 plus $3 per bird. I showed up. I signed in. I put my Dotty in the assigned cage. I checked to see of she'd spilled her water periodically. I took her home at the end of the day.

Hey, if your serious I do the drive about once a week, usually up fri or say, and down sat or sun, I would LOVE to come and visit!

This run was almost too many stops even for me ... I left Bellevue at 1 and got home at 9:30 with 4 stops(1for dinner) the child was DONE with riding in the car by the time we got to dinner/sleepover for him... Then I still had an hour drive home .....

Are going to the Vancouver pnpa show on the 20th?
