Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Mom had to give up her beloved tomato juice.
My dad had to give up his beloved liver & onions.
One of my egg buyer's DH has gout & had to give up wheat, all meats & now he just eats beans....she even makes bread from bean flour.
GROSS !!!!!!!!!!!

Well my girl is impacted. She woke up this morning and still had a crop full of what feels like grass. I'm giving her water with ACV in it, a little greek yogurt with grit in it, but she's not taking much. I wish I could get more grit into her! She just won't eat it. I'm massaging her crop downward as often as I can. She doesn't seem to be improving. :hit

Jess -

NO MORE GRIT.

If her crop is impacted, you only want to give liquids. Grit will only add to the impaction, not help clear it.  Isolate the bird, deny food, allow water with 2TBL of the bleach solution the CL talks about per gallon of water.  Massage the crop often, but not too hard as you don't want to rupture it.  If it is grass, you can try 2 TBL of red wine forced.  This helps balance the pH in the crop as well as helping to disolve the grass.

Good luck.

Thank you!! I haven't found a difinitive post on exactly what to do for this. She seems like she may be improving a little bit, the only reason I say this is because she keeps pooping; it's definitely diarrhea but there's still scant solids in each pile. I will have DH pick up the red wine after work, and will stop the grit for now. Will mix the bleach solution now too.

That's 2 TBLS of a solution of bleach and water, not 2 TBLS per gal. Just in case there was some confusion. Q. is your water already chlorinated?

Yup I have the solution written down and have used it in the past thanks!

Hatch update! 21 out of 27 eggs have hatched. I moved the chicks from the bator into a brooder and left the 6 other eggs. I an not sure if they will hatch but its day 23 so you never know but they dont show any signs of it... Which brings me to my question... how long should I wait to see if they hatch? and how do you clean the bator after? I was thinking dawn dish soap then spray lightly with a bleach water solution and air drying? But I wasnt sure...

Really? I'll have to tell DH--I make beer, a lot of it, but I drink wine, so this may be a problem.
Wheat........Wheat...............Wheat..............Wheat................ Wheat.................Wheat....................... Wheat........................I wonders if VF could have red bridge ale......it is a yummy dark ale type beer, and is Gluten Free.

Just wanted to share pictures of move in day. My new breeding pens are much nicer than old grow out pens and with no adults to clog them up, the babies get to grow up in them.

Only divided it in half rather than 4 pens so that the cross piece could serve as perches. Right now segregated by size and being polish. Haha.

They absolutely love pimento stuffed green olives...especially after soaking in a nice dry Vodka Martini....

Naw, I think he means exactly what he said, 2 Tablespoons of solution per gallon of her drinking water.

For well birds, it is 1 T, for sick birds it is 2 T.
She may have a bit of collibaciliosis...which can make the poop a hard solid with lots of watery fluids.
The poop tray would look like a small hard poop & someone spilled alot of water, like the roof is leaking.
Clear watery diarreah, not cloudy.
