I adore my Brabanters I got from Hallerlake. They are my 'lap chickens'. They have a great personalities =) I also love my Spitz, but my Brabanters are the ones that will do things like fly up on my arm to see what I have for treats, or call me out of the house to 'play'. Not kidding! I love them! Check out my albums, the Brabanters are my only incubator hatched birds (link to the alubum in my signature.)

The era I grew up in boys did not sew unless you happen to be in the military where you had to mend some of your own stuff, or had a Dad like mine who believed that a man should be able to mend his own clothes, cook his own meals, make his bed and wash and iron his clothes. (I guess 23 years in the military did that for him)
I like tools, I don't care what they're for, I like them and I like to use them.
The neat arraingment of things did not rub off on me though, sad to say, consequently I spend many hours looking for tools that I just laid down and can't find again. Apparently they go into a black vortex and disapear, never tobe seen again until of course I buy a new one to replace it. Then it shows up in plain sight. Yes God has a sense of humor, I think he has had many a belly-laugh on my antics.

I'll admit to a preference for the Brabanters, too.

I am going to the Vancouver show, but I will also have a carload of boys and all their sailing gear, sleeping bags, etc. So I am not %100 sure I would have room for a goose. Can you tell me how big of a carrier it would be in? If I can help, I will!

Right now I've got the juveniles in a tractor , and some turkey eggs in my homemade inCOOLbator, so no way to hatch.

I will check with my friend, but I think he is a full grown sebbie. Probably need a 18" x 24" kennels min. That would be wonderful if you could help!

the polish is hilarius looking. I am so tempted, but we're doing the chickens for eggs- and polish would have to be separate, etc, etc.... but dang, they are sooo cute!
I am doing the chickens for eggs too. But, I also wanted a Cochin, just for fun. They happened to have a LF Cochin at the store when I got my last batch, along with the Polish. I got the Polish without thinking about it, then did some reading about them and was worried about it being picked on. So far, all has been ok, but he is not fully crested, so I will have to watch. I am going to build a separate bantam coop, as I also have the little frizzle cochin and am supposed to be getting a couple bantam Cochin from SadieSue. I am seriously thinking of having a separate small coop and run for Silkies as well, since I have my darling Sirius and think he should have a couple ladies of his own to love. Dang!! Chicken math got me, I think. My DD is about ready to have me committed. She does not understand the chickens at all. If I say that a chicken is beautiful, she looks at me like I have 3 heads. Meh, whatever. I will make sure to leave whatever flock I have in the future to her in my will.

Yes. Yes, he does. I am pretty sure he has gotten quite a few from mine, as well. I also have my 5 yr old (who should not have been able to be conceived) as my reminder that HE is in control.

I can't ask this on facebook since my husband and now my son is on there ~ Has anyone dealt with facial tics or any other tics, either in themselves or their kids? My son has always been a little..strange, in a charming way, but his tics are a little more weird lately, and he's starting middle school this year. We are concerned about what is going to happen in middle school if he can't control it a little. We are dealing with some jerk mean kids at his school right now, unrelated to his tics, but it doesn't help I'm sure. It's all very draining. He was elbowed in the face during a basketball game during recess last week and chipped a front tooth. The tooth is fixed, and things are changing at school (thanks to one loud mother--ME!) What can I do to help him with his tics though? We took him to a doctor again today and basically he says, wait and see. Watch him and see if it gets worse. Help him learn to relax and decrease anxiety. Increase his physical activity (I started swimming lessons this week for both kids again and we have already been walking greenlake once a week and encouraging him to ride his bike) We are decreasing TV/video games, he already has no caffeine, I am getting him more active. Considering hypnosis to help him relax. His tics change over time, each will last a few months to a year and then just disappear, and be replaced by another. Some are a little weird but tolerable, some are kind of creepy. His most recent one has been scrunching his eyes over and over again while talking, sort of a furrowed brow look. That has been going on for many months. But this week he started doing this thing moving his mouth way over to his right. Last year he had severe eye rolling, always to the top left. Two years ago it was *constant* coughing. It never ends.

I am bipolar and have general anxiety issues, but have gotten it under control in the last year and a half (I genuinely believe the chickens have helped!). I don't want him to take 38 years to be happy :(
I am very far behind reading all the posts. This one hit a nerve for me though. I am so tired of dealing with the issues that have come up with the school, teacher issues, other students behaviors, etc...my kids are starting to hate school and they have always loved it (one wants to be a librarian) so we are starting 8th grade next year online for the twins. They are both looking forward to it so much. You can check it out at http://www.k12.com/wava#.UWcxB5OTjTe and they will ship everything you need right to your door. This is free online public school for anyone that lives in WA. We are all looking so forward to it. I can't wait :) I love spending time with my kids. This online school has outings, gatherings, potlucks, clubs, and events to participate in also, so you are not housebound, you will see and interact with plenty of other kids in a more supervised setting that is almost like extended family because all the other parents will be around.

Also, I got six new chicks last week. I will post a pic later. one barred rock, three golden sexlink, one rhode island red, and one americana. We have two from last year that have started laying eggs now. We are still new to owning chickens but we love it. And we don't get enough eggs, lol, so this is why I got some more chicks :)
