I have been getting a few pinkish eggs over the last couple of weeks. I couldn't figure out who was laying themI have never heard of a blue egg layer laying a brown egg, especially such a dark egg.
They just do not have the physical capibilities to do so.
Tinted layers (Like the EEs) can lay a pinkish egg one day and a greenish tinited egg the next day.
Marans lay such a dark egg though, and their egg colors usually fades as lay season goes on, and can be extremely dark in spring, but by fall they lay a light brown egg even speckled as they "run outta paint" by the end of lay season....![]()
Sure Sudsy doesn't have a Maran in the bunch ??????????
# 15 NO Chicken RustlingOK so I went back for a refresher. I think it may do us good to revisit this. Maybe that can help us all move on.

This has been a favored nursery since the tree went over; it's protected from the north wind by one of the crown branches and open to the morning sun. I've got four very old and thus HUGE Gravensteins, but need a smaller one so I can get a few apples! And this one will probably have to be logged out: as good as it is for shelter, it lies about 15 feet inside one of the main gates between pastures, and makes it impossible to bring the truck in, of we need to.How sweet they look And the sun is shinning! Did mommy cow pick this place to have or shelter her calf? I just love the old Gravenstien trees, the smell in the fall reminds me of our farm when I was a kid.
