Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

OK, just how much do those critter cams cost, and how wide a field of view do they have? Because I'm getting too old to deal with the bottom of the driveway, the top of the hill, and the two hollows you can't see into without going all the way to their edge.:old

Or, hey, you RC guys: how hard would it be to load a GoPro camera on a quadcopter or something?

Two miles on a quarter quarter section, with a gross 500ft change in elevation (actual net difference in elevation on this parcel= 150 ft). And I carefully filled my water bottle and then left it next to the sink.

And that red cow is still pregnant.

You need to look into a golf cart. Used are pretty cheap, can be modified with a tool tray behind you and they come in electric or gas.!  It would make y our life way more pleasant.

I'd need a 4wd thing- this place is lumpy and golf carts aren't good with slopes, nor sudden mole holes.

Also it goes against Dad's first law: keep moving.

mikeyb I think she would need roll-bars... no kidding sounds like that place is steep and we wouldn't want her to tip over.
When you mentioned your strawberry box expansion, it came to me in a flash! my grow-up house painted to look like a box of strawberry's from the store??

Raccoon in your yard? Your pretty citified. I am surprised. You better get that hawk that tried to get you to work on the raccoons. I have a live trap if you need to borrow it.
Hey Lady... glad to see you around here again, thought maybe you were on a StayCation or something.

We're only look citified because you live so faaaarrrrrrr out in the woooooods! We've had bear just down the road a few times, deer all the time, and who knows what else when we're not looking. The fact this raccoon was here during the day is what bothered me. It didn't look sick and didn't have babies with it, so what the heck was it doing here?

We need to get together, I want to see your new ones. How is your hatch coming? I want to see that, too.

OK, the call for cute chick pics was made. Took this a little while ago today. One of my new silkies. These sizzle chicks are so cute. Bad hair day every day. Bed head like you can't imagine. Makes me giggle every time I see them. So sweet also. I am hooked.

My schedule has been crazy, with being in one show, rehearsals for another, a part time job, parties, and every other little thing that comes across my plate, I've been trying to keep up but I'm still over 100 pages behind!

My Wheaten Ameraucana chicks that I hatched from CGG eggs are 3 weeks old as of yesterday. They are thriving and growing and completely adorable! My Silkie moms are doing such a great job raising them and are a joy to watch with the babies. They are cautious when I'm near, but let me take photos and don't freak out too much if I pick up one of the babies - at least they don't try to hurt me! I've known some mean broodys before - so the Silkie moms are a refreshing change.

I have 6 other Wheaten Ameraucana eggs due to hatch tomorrow provided I haven't killed them. I mis-counted and accidentally put them in lockdown two full days early! I'm hoping I didn't drown them. I'm hatching them for my gf and I think she's going to be mighty disappointed if I screwed up what were perfectly healthy embryos 3 days ago.

I'm disappointed that NONE of my 12 bantam cochin eggs every showed signs of developing. I've sent a note to the breeder to see if she's having trouble with fertility this year. I was really looking forward to hatching some of those cute babies. I may try later this season.

And I just ordered a dozen F1 and F2 Olive Egger eggs from cpartist. I like that her olive eggers have varied feather coloring. I just hope they make the long trip safely in travel. They're coming a long way (from Florida).

So I took pics of the chicks. I hope you guys don't mind me sharing a bunch of them. Looks like I lucked out. Pretty sure I've got two girls and only one boy out of my three! (Anyone else needing a nice Ameraucana boy for their flock)?

The two moms co-parenting their babies. Lucille in the background and proud Priscilla in front.

These are just so CUTE! I'd love to have a fluffly momma like those to curl up with when it's cold outside!

Two girls and a boy (with the black on his wings)

YUP, he's a boy for sure! I'd love to see these 3 again in another week.
The one on the left I'm wondering about and since I have so little experience it would help me learn.

Thanks for Sharing These! Sounds like you're having fun!
I re-homed both of my little boys so I have just the one Am girl and one RSL girl. Love Them!

Too bad she is a chicken. Alektrophobia.

Quote: Doesn't that Priscilla look like a comfy mama? Both of my Silkie mamas are pretty girls, but Priscilla has been posing particularly nice lately. I think it's pride in her chicks that makes her stand just a little taller these days.

I agree Carolyn - that chick on the left has had me guessing for the past week but when I was looking at them this morning it was looking nearly as light as the one I'm sure is a girl with no hints of black, but I realize the possibility of a late bloomer is lurking as well. I know we had a real guessing game going on with your "Honey" was it? Who turned out to also be a boy but had us scratching our heads for a couple of weeks.
So yes, I've got my eye on this little mystery chick, but right now my Magic 8 ball is saying "As I see it, yes" it's a girl...

So, I was outside talking to the kid on the phone cussing at these oddities, when I thought.. what the heck, give you all a lil chuckle at my expense and play the guessing game...

Originally I loved Yule so I decided to get a few more and see. So I ordered 5 more.. at first, it was obvious that 2 were definitely roosters.. they sadly had to go.. then there was the other 3..
at first I was like...

then...

then.. what the heck are you??!
rant.gif
you don't crow... you don't get mounted you don't mount.. and you sure as heck don't look like Yule!!

Shemale??

I planned on moving them to the brooding pen for breeding and see who comes out on top in a few weeks.. (yes, that was indeed a horrible pun

but if anyone recognizes this rediculous looking Langshan as well..lol have fun and place your bets

(edit: perhaps I'm going to have to use the real camera as this pic doesn't want to enlarge apparently :hmm)
