They hold it like a hamburger. So, what's the difference between eating it as Balut, or waiting till it's hatched and older and THEN killing it?

ONE HUNDRED?USPS called, my chickens (100) are there! Hubby will pick up at lunch time. Now the fun begins, but at least they will be gone in 5-6 weeks.
Quote: Yeah for sure! But I'm not driving for another two weeks, so it's himself at lunchtime. Oh, and we aren't keeping them all - we split an order with a friend to get a lower price!
Unfortunately your intentions aren't going to matter. You will need to complain and get the law changed. Similar to how you couldn't have an illegal weapon of some sort and just claim "but I'm not going to use it".
No matter how much people try to make them pets, the facts are chickens are food. The code cited in this thread for your city prevents you from raising livestock for food. It's stupid yes for multiple reasons, but you're going to have to get a group and change that ridiculous code before you'll convince the city to let you have your chickens.
Thankfully with urban farming and backyard chickens being so popular right now, city governments all over the country are changing their laws and codes. There's and entire section of the forum here devoted to the topic but I'd start with a letter writing campaign, use social media to find like minded people an support within the city and force them to change it.

If you feel that it really needs to be done, I would do only the parts that are dirty. And I would dry with a hair dryer, then put it under the heat lamp. I wouldn't get the whole chick wet.
Well NORMALLY I would say sure no problem. BUT see we will be in our tiny travel trailer. Limited space with me, DW, Quincy, Pierre, Mickey, and 11 chickens of my own that are coming home from there. PLUS I am out of carriers !!! SORRY.Jessica, have you asked on the FB page or joined the Oregon Spring Poultry Swap. CR will be there and I am sure could p/u chicks if you found some and gave him the $$
Here is a video from Terry Golson of Hencam on how to give your chicken a bath.If you feel that it really needs to be done, I would do only the parts that are dirty. And I would dry with a hair dryer, then put it under the heat lamp. I wouldn't get the whole chick wet.
