The outdoor run of our chicken coop is finally complete and we will be letting the chickens outside this Saturday. I plan to have my husband open up the door for them each morning @ 7am and I will go out there each night by 9pm and make sure they all get back inside and close the door up. Anyone have any tips or suggestions for keeping my ladies happy & healthy

I am currently building a Silkie coop

If I had these it would be so much easier. I could just build the chicken house of doors.

I am building a silkie coop also this week. Maybe we should compare notes. Do silkies need different things than a reg. chicken? Larger ramps with less angle? What about nest boxes? They sleep in a lump, funny things.

Mine don't eat the rhubarb growing in the garden at all! Weird!! It grows wild every year since we moved in, we've done nothing to it and it's spreading like crazy and gets bigger every year! LOL

Maybe I can get some starts from you next meet up ?

My KEY word was TALL I meant like a 24'. That's how we did the peak of my neighbors place. It is a full 2 story plus attic above the upper ceiling. I think your idea of a cat walk may be a good plan too. Then paint the top first and ya can caulk any screw holes from the cat walk etc. How tall is your tallest ladder?

There is an extension tube you can buy (maybe at Sherman Williams?) that attaches to the paint gun, then the snozzle screws on to the tip...so we could maybe kinda hang out the upper window (roped to the trusses....) and spray.......so we need to go to HD & Sherman Williams & see if they carry on our size.
he got the paint sprayer out this morning to give it a look see...YOU KNOW EINSTEIN ! HE"LL COME UP WITH SOME WACKY INVENTION !!!

We also have a neighbor with a large-ish back hoe...he was grading his driveway yesterday and I got the idea of maybe lifting DH UP in the bucket...let him paint, them move the back hoe...maybe that would work ?
