We enjoyed ourselves. It's to bad we had to leave early.

I need to get a kennel and house set up outside for the dogs. Then we need a camper. We do have a tent, though.

It's too quiet, and too lonely now !!!

Hello all, I'm in the Federal Way area. I'm currently trying to find a good home for a 6 month Polish rooster. I'm sad but have to give it away because I cannot have a rooster due to the crowing :(. I don't want him to be eaten, he's a gentle, funny rooster. I posted on Craigslist and have some inquiries and I'm following up but I would be more happy to give it to someone on this site since everyone seems really nice :)

The 3rd, is the apartment complexes, which are horrible both on nature & on taxes.
This is where 99% of children live, yet it pays no property taxes which support schools, except for,//////////////////////////////
And sucks up $$$$$$in power & water and expells TONS of sewage in a TINY space of land.

You know what, I am NOT gonna open this bombshell any further.
CL, that's simply not true. I own some duplexes which we rent. ►WE◄, the owners, pay property taxes, and they aren't subsidised. Most of ours are on septic so aren't expelling water into an area that can't handle it.

I understand her frustration and was recently having a similar conversation with a friend. Living in Seattle, he keeps seeing his property taxes hiked up higher and higher because a majority of the people voting for the increases are renting, they do not own the property themselves (but they wonder why their rent keeps going up...). While the owner does pay the taxes, he or she is the minority and will lose the vote when it comes to adding additional taxes marked for schools etc. I think my property taxes will be around 4,500 next year? Single/no kids and make enough to never qualify for special rates for utilities or taxes gives me the bias I have

My property taxes are over $6000 a year (this year). We live on a dirt road, have no fire department, and no kids. The local school district just passed a levy to build a new state of the art school complete with a stadium with astroturf. Not sure how much that is going to cost me. When I was a kid we were happy to play on the grass. School should be about education and not playing games with wanna-be pro athletes that have zero talent. When we sell the house it will be because we can't afford to live here due to property tax. Very sad part of living in King County.

Yes, property taxes, including levies for schools and such, are calculated on the value of the property. And the the landlords pass it on to the tenants. Rental subsidies lower income taxes and perhaps business taxes, but not property taxes. And most apartments, in the city, are not subsidised housing. In the city, sewage goes to treatment plants, so whether a family lives in a house or an apt., the sewage goes to the the treatment plant.

I have other reasons not to like apartment complexes and zero-lot-line houses, but it's related more to the mental, emotional, and physical well being of those that are over crowded.

As a small apt. owner in Seattle, (family owned since 1969), there are so many reasons that taxes have exploded. The NW has been one of the few areas not as hard hit financially and continues popular growth & home to several large entities-Microsoft, Boeing, Amazon, armed forces/most branches... For me i am near south lake union where all the high rises, tech & research entities are going in. The change in the Mercer corridor and SLU area and the coming zone changes means that my ability to keep the family business is limited. My neighborhood main street use to be sleepy, single homes with a few apts. now homes are being dozed for too narrow duplex condos and huge mixed use business-condos-apts. Many developers do not even have to have car space for each dwelling, one near the Seattle Center has only 5 spaces for a huge complex. This passed because they say they want to transition to core usage where home-shopping and work are a walk/bus away and that transit will help the rest-but not when it keeps being cut back or You cannot afford to live in town.
….. Our taxes are over $18,000., Insurance $5,000. yr. and rising. I have been fortunate to have a stable base of renters,(10 units) some over 20 years but also have not kept rent increases up as would help me. Water rates are charged for both intake and outgo. The blessing of condensed dwellings of apts and condos is that it *is* limited to a small footprint. If this were not, it could be that people numbers would be spread so far that there would not be any open space that so many of us are greatful for or to allow someone to have the ability to be closer if they could…People will use resources regardless of where they live and when condensed housing, at least in town it is centrally processed.

Ochochicas, curious what area the new school will be located? I am not a sports fan but do know that having pro sports in Seattle brings major financial revenue (as well as driving headaches and ego overload). Astro turf while pricey going in does not have the continued financial upkeep that grass has including watering, chemicals (weed and feed), mowing, winter mud.

Unfortunately sometimes sports is the only incentive for some kids….Meanwhile back to the chooks…
