I totally agree with both. It's always good, imho, to see where your birds are coming from. And quarantine regardless especially if you're adding to your breeding/laying flock.

I just discovered that I have a rooster and need to find a new home for him. We live in western washington if anyone is interested. Any advice would be appreciated.
Where in Western Washington? What breed of rooster? How old is he?
Also, are you looking to rehome a pet, or are you looking for someone who might turn your rooster into a free meal?
You're doing fine.![]()
But the questions still are there. You have a rooster you feel you can't keep. What breed? Age? General location? And do you care what will happen to him?
The easiest thing would be to put a free rooster post up on Craigslist.
But if you prefer he stays out of the stewpot, that's probably not what you want to do. If he's a common breed, especially if he's a hatchery bird, your options will be somewhat limited.

Today the kids came out to our house to see the farm! We own a Christmas tree farm, have a garden, fruit trees, tractors, a horse, 2 dogs, cats, 13 chickens, 5 guinea fowl, and 3 turkeys.
. . . . . . . . . .
It was a blast and they are coming back in the spring when the eggs they hatch are grown and we are planting new trees and seeds.
