I do hav a length of heat tape in the green house that I can plug in incase it gets too cold...and I do cover the plants with row cover.

Hopefully they harden up well !!!

Mint is better in the sun. Not to wet. Comfrey likes sun and plenty of water but not in the marsh

OOOHHHH SO JEALOUS , my gotta do list hasn't allowed me to get very far in the garden yet….Love the heat tape thought….next week says a bit colder….My peppermint is in a huge clump in a sunny but wet (not soggy) area most of the year…..have a different type same kind of area but half sunny, grows like a weed……Comfrey grows anywhere, even in ditches near water…BEST in a confined container…..roots go DEEP and SPREADING. Even a fingernail size piece of root can grow…..i will be attempting to eliminate it from my garden forever. So i guess i'm saying, don't plant it where you may not want it in the future….

I absolutely agree, and am always pulling out mint. I ran across this awesome idea on pinterest to keep things like mint from spreading... Sunken pots!

Anyone here raise ducks? My DH has been talking about looking into ducks. He read something about them being quieter and having more frequent and bigger eggs than chickens. Also the idea of being able to have a drake and raising eggs or ducklings would be a bonus. We can't have roosters cause were to close to neighbors. So heres my question is this info true? What are some cons people have come across and can you raise them with your chickens in the same flock. We've got some chicks right now I'm thinking about adding some ducks to them now so they can bond, but I don't know anything about ducks or if this is something that can be done. Any help thanks!
I added three ducks last year. They grow super fast. You can give them the same food as the chickens, but need to add some brewers yeast the first 8wks to help strengthen their legs. They are so fun to watch in the water. The cons are that they are sooooo messy. We have a large natural pond on the property and I finally got them to go out there.
