Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

This is what I do in my spare time besides chickens

I show roses! It's easier than people think. You don't have to be retired to have good roses lol. Unfortunately-give me an indoor plant and it's doomed. Weird.
I have Ledas.....LOVE my Leda roses, and this is my Honeysuckle..

And some of my favorutes, Nasty sturtiams !!!

And this is Leda:

My lowest roost is about 3 feet off the bottom of the floor and my highest is about 4 feet. Should I be keeping them closer to the ground?
I would keep them at 3 feet if they are heavy (LF) breeds.
Injury to the 'ball' of the foot, is Bumble Foot, and then coliform bacteria gets in there & it gets nasty, and very hard to cure.

I'm a Washingtonian and recently found this thread..so great! I'm just getting the final touches on my coop and run. Having chickens is awesome!

She has never heard the song...WHOOPS! There goes another rubber tree !

All rubber comes from rubber trees...and vanilla comes from an orchid...and I am an orchid freak !
At least Vanilla comes from orchids now….There is a company trying to GMO it and others like that yellow stamen powdery stuff that is so expensive so it would be easier to get….The down side is that if they get their way, it would not be labeled differently because they are using natural substances and it would take an industry away from people that depend on it. Heard it a month or two ago…...

Vanilla has always come from orchids...and as far as I know, in the 60s was "engineered" to be a synthetic extract,......................ICK

All pure Vanilla comes from the Orchid, vanilla.

THEY ARE SO EXSPENSIVE !!!

Vanilla is expensive due to what is needed to PROCESS it. Growing and harvesting are easy.

Oh! And a little dab will do ya!
If you throw just a half bean into a full pound of sugar, it will flavor it for exquisite coffee or to make vanilla syrup with! Stick the other half in some loose tea!

Some may wish to see what is involved in producing outrageously expensive beans...
