Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I do sell eggs but don't have Cemani anymore. Wasn't worth the time. Way too many culls. Most won't be born all black or with black skin. I had pure Greenfire birds and I got 99% culls out of every hatch for a couple years. There just aren't enough nice ones yet to get good stock.

That sucks. What do you have now? I have a mixed flock that can make OEs but I will be hunting for silkied Ameraucanas (not crosses they just have the same mutation for the feathers) in the spring. And probably some Cream Legbars too.

I have Barbezieux, crested cream legbars, lavender ameraucanas, bbs isbars, and black, lavender, gold laced and silver laced english orpingtons.

Awesome, I like lavender birds, but I REALLY love splash. Isbars seem cool but I don't have room for all my dream birds yet. There are about 5 projects I want to do but I only have room for one or two right now.

Bummer! That's disappointing. Maybe I will just stay away from Cemani then. Too expensive for that and I hate the idea of having to cull birds but I would if I had to. I doesn't make sense to breed birds and not hold the standard. Kind of like what's happened to the Rhode Island Red breed. Catface, I am so close to you!! Will you be selling any POL at spring time? Here's my favorite babies right now...Andelusians!

I have 7 coops and am still saying that!  :)

The 5 projects I have in mind are Silkied Ameraucana, Sebright and something silver laced to make larger looking sebright type chickens, Cream Legbars(I don't really like the crested kind, they look weird), Porcelain d'Uccles, and OEs using my Amerucaunas and maybe Marans or something.

The main issue with the Cemani is that there is no actual standard. They're just too new in this part of the world and very few people have them. I very rarely sell adult birds, mostly chicks and eggs. Right now I have a batch of English gold laced orps for sale and Barbezieux eggs. Springtime will mostly be eggs and some extra roosters.

I love the look of the English Orpingtons! They are such beach balls! I already get such a kick out of my Chocolate Orpington and her build. Her name is Big Mamma but I mostly call her Mrs. Fuzzy Butt...I know, real mature.

I'm considering a Rooster...but a little nervous about it for my girls. Currently 9 of them are only 11 weeks old and my CO is just POL. I know she could handle it, but my babies? I don't know? It's about the same way I feel if I think a guy is looking at my 17 year old! LOL
