Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Probably the cross, they were purchased at Shelton ace hardware we use to live there. I bought all of them as pullets? a few days old. I did not want a rooster still don't, my goal was to have fresh eggs here and sell some to recoup the cost of birds

even had the shock one of the brahmas squatted in front of me for pets this morning.
I am beginning to believe it is my vision and the color is diluted from being so large. I am even thinking to buy a few more pullets in the spring to add to my flock.

I am so ready to get some eggs! My three hens who laid faithfully almost every day for a year, quit in mid-November, molted, and haven't laid a single egg since. My three youngsters still haven't started at 6+ months. I want eggs! I am happy that one of my beach ball size English Orpington pullets squatted for me today -- so hopefully eggs will soon be on the way.

Could be !
A cross breed to one of your light brown layers would have either been Standard comb (s/c) to standard comb (s/c) = standard comb offspring.
If a white ear lobed breed was crossed (like a Leghorn) to your Brahmas would be:
Pea Comb (p/c) to Standard comb (s/c) would =Pea comb offspring as pea combs are dominate.
If you breed a Rose Comb (R/C) to a Pea comb (p/c) you get cushion comb (C/C) off spring.
So there is more nonsense to disorient you all...LOL

This is why a S/C (Marans a dark brown layer) bred to an Ameraucana (P/C) will produce a P/C Olive egger (OE)...

And a S/C (RIR a light brown layer) bred to an Ameraucana will produce a P/C Easter Egger (EE)

Both the offsprings will have various colors,(and true Ameraucanas usually are a single color, except in the wheaten & blue Wheaten)and some of the offspring will have traits from both parents (like feathered shanks and a beard) but the pea comb in the Ameraucana will be dominate in all cases.

And that is why hatcheries sell EEs and call them Ameraucanas.

What a beautiful day !!! A little chilly, but clear & bright here !
My green house was 80 degrees !
The garlic is poking up.....
The chickens were all out getting sunbaths...
and I gutted all the shavings out of 2 big coops, and added fresh...
The shavings were damp from the month of rain & condesation & poop to the point where ammonia was just starting...and that is very bad for the birds' to breathe.
So I got alot done today !

Tonight, we are bar-be-cueing Pork Ribs, with Rice-a-roni (gluten free!) and steamed cauliflower....it is a dinner that no doubt will hurt me...cuz I love all the ingredients so much.....
Definetly Western Washington bar-be-cue weather !

Mama Bear and Papa Bear were getting a divorce. They were meeting with the judge and the judge asked Baby Bear if he wanted to live with Mama Bear and he said no she beats me. How about Papa Bear, no he beats me. Well who do you want to live with? The Chicago bears they don't beat any body
