Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

So I can handle 20 quails eggs a day - but now we have 6 chicken eggs a day with the quail eggs.. My co-worker and neighbor maybe getting sick of free eggs.
In 3 months we should have a dozen a day :( wife is going make gain so much weight for baking!
Excess eggs can also be saved up & scarmbled, and frozen in containers for future use...like the dead of winter when you are short of eggs.
Just thaw them out & enjoy scrambled eggs for breakfast, or chili rellanos...or use the eggs in cakes & such.

They are also really good for your dogs...scrambled eggs 1-2X a week is excellent for your dogs.

Any more excess, I wash them & donate to my senior center.
The old ones need more protein and have very little, especially those living alone who do not cook much anymore, like full meat meals of their yesterdays.

Of hatchery sourced Marans, Black Copper lay the darkest. Not going to be as dark as the eggs form show quality lines, though. Cuckoo Marans hatchery birds lay the lightest, most are barely darker than a medium brown.
OK thanks. Good to know. I couldn't decide if I was going for pretty eggs or pretty chickens. I think I'm going to go for the BO or buff rocks

Well we tried to get my greenhouse door in and the pony wall up also bought 6ml plastic
as the tarp only covers the back of the greenhouse by design but due to the rain
most the day we hid in the barn playing with straightening it out from most the wood being used
in the pony wall already and only a few more cuts and allot of painting for it to be done.

Moe and Joe worked in a factory making duck decoys for hunters. They hated the first of the month — that's when the bills came in.

Well, I thought I had until tomorrow to decide. Wrong. They called a bit ago and said they were on the way to The store and what did I want! I got the Bruder ready in 10 minutes. Very proud of me :) now I can't wait for them to get here, no buyers regret with this big of a hurry.

June 15th for me! Coming up fast, lol.

My husband just found where she has her nest... on a screen in the rafters. What a dummy! I guess we will have to do chick patrol and pull them down when they start hatching. At least she is found though :)
This time of year they can up & disapear for weeks...LOL and re-appear with chicks in tow !

When are YOU due ??

Our sussex is a hoot. She kept flying out of the run so I had to bird net. She was chasing the ups man looking for treats, and getting into people's cars when they stopped by.

I have an opportunity to get some speckled Sussex checks. They are definitely on my wish list. Should I go for? I have nine chickens and 12 feet of roost space. So technically I could get three more. I'm torn, I was surprised that the local store would get these checks in. They're so gorgeous!

Speckled sussex look so pretty!

This is a little odd, but are there any farms or butcher shops nearby that offer dressed heritage or other breeds? I want to try them vs. the commercial Cornish grocery meats. Been checking farmer's markets and craiglist, but I guess meat regulations are (rightfully) much tighter than egg ones.
