Any opinion on hygromycin B vs fenbendazole based de-wormers? Hygromycin is officially approved to treat chickens, it looks like, but I don't really like dosing antibiotics willy nilly, and it seems to be more limited in the types of worms it kills. This is available in pellet form.

Fenbendazole is available in liquid (add to water) for goats and as a tube paste equine dewormer. This seems specific to worms while being broad-spectrum.

There is also liquid "Wazine" that is specific to adult roundworms.

Chickielady - I have half an acre, fully fenced! I will post some pics later, I don't have any good ones right now. We are still moving everything. The yard is ok in the front but it is still 'jungle' in back. I have been joking that there are raptors hiding in it. Seriously, the grass is taller than my kids.

I have decided on sheep. Now we need to finish moving in, get shelter built and get on a breeder wait list.

Just so's ya know, tho....Raptors fly and seldom are in the grass.

A dog walks into a bar and sits down on a stool. Everyone looks at him, but no one says anything. The bartender thinks this is a joke, but goes along with the gag. Bartender: "What do you want?" Dog: "Neat scotch." The bartender serves the drink. Dog: "What do I owe you?" Bartender: "$10.00." Dog pays the man, jumps off the stool and walks to the door. Bartender: "Come back soon. We don't get many talking dogs in here." Dog: "At these prices, I'm not surprised!"

Hey, I also wanted to say, please let us all know what breeds you are looking for so maybe, just maybe we can enable......(

...).......and maybe help with other stuff too...fencing, coops,...dog houses...what have you ??

We adopted some lovely sheep from our local animal rescue (admittedly, we live in a rural area) as well as took on some sweet retired ewes from a friend's farm. I have had sheep over the years, some very nicely bred and expensive, but these have been my favorites as they seem so people oriented and easy for me to handle as I get older. Just some thoughts on other angles for finding sheep....

Any one want to take a shot at sexing my 7 week old english orphingtons?
Chick 1

Chick 2

Both
Look at shanks size.
Cockerels will have shanks 2X the size of a pullet

Also males fledge slower...usually their tail is last to fledge....the pullet will fledge fast, wings, BACK, tail, everything...fast, within week or 2 of hatch.
Cockerels will also redden in wattles and comb earlier than the pullets.
Even when the pullet is older, her comb will be much smaller than the cockerel.
The last thing you do is look for emerging hackle on the BACK/Saddle area and the neck cape........only cocks will have this feathering.
The feathers will be long & pointed...and have quite a sheen to them.
So here is a pic of a Black Java Cock....so you can see his long pointed hackle feathers on neck "cape" and Saddle (back)

hen:

hahaha.so cute !!...........
So way in the back is the Cock...but pay attention to the hen's neck feathers, no hackle, and no saddle hackle either.

Somewhere I have some of the Buckeyes....So here is my Star Buckeye Cock...notice his hackle, he was so awesome !!

This Cock won alot of prizes !

Easier to see at night:

Now hens :

OK, enough photos ...so maybe this helps ?

I have used Wazine, it does nothing...
