BEAUTIFUL PIC... LOVE IT
Oh I hope that wasn't a horrible thing to have done
Great pictures.. your camera has good focus & lighting. I love them all i cant pic a favorite. i love the contrast of the dark trees against the grey fog and the other trees in the distance. perfect pic, i would love to have that one hanging on my wall. my fav pic of Ashes is the one w/his neck stretched up; he is giving you attitude. he is saying "ok, i have balanced on this post long enough-take the pic already"... so cute. your hawthorn bush is so healthy... we have them all over our property and down our road and they have brown spotty leaves.. i cant water or take care of them all, too far from the house. thanks for sharing your pics. i love photography.
Thanks. It's a Cannon Rebel that hubby got me several years back. I'm trying to learn how to use it better. Just got a book I need to read through.
We have a ton of the hawthorns and they are all in good shape. There is plenty of water here, though. I'll have to see if I can find the pictures from when we were cutting the bottoms off them so I could mow the weeds under them. Hubby cut them high enough he could walk under.

I don't think it should actually need the extra water. There is a young one out by the road here that is in a dry spot and it's doing good. Other than the first year on fruit trees and bushes. I don't water any of the perennials that are planted in the soil here. Water is more of an issue in late winter here. I'm planning on planting more plums as they don't care much about being inundated.
The pond here is big. It covers about 40 acres and is connected to another one that is just slightly smaller. The amount of it that comes on our property probably covers about an acre. The main stream that feeds it comes across our property from the east. There is another seasonal stream that runs down the east edge and joins that stream as well.
The thorns are why we had to cut our hawthorn. They kept getting bigger and blackberries were starting to grow under them. I was getting tired of being cut up when I mowed.
i should do a big trim on ours cuz when we put our horses on that side of the property, they walk/run right by it and on the other side is a large bush of some sort?, so now their pathyway is very narrow. im afraid they will get scratched. one of our horses is always getting cut by trees around our property. the other day i saw 3-4 scratches that scabed over and were from his neck and all they way across to his stomach. he runs from bees alot, this time of yr and doesnt cae about getting cut. poor guy.I don't think it should actually need the extra water. Oh my... Beautiful pics... love the sunset on the pond/lake, gorgeous... maybe we dont have a hawthorne..?? i dont remember white blossoms on ours? like i said ours is not real healthy looking. are there different types of hawthorns? i will google it. you are a night owl, huh? me too, but i must get to bed if i am going to be of any use tomorrow. i am retired, but have lots of animals and chores to do, and this heat has been kicking my butt.. i do my chores early in morning and late in evening until dark, cuz it is much cooler. very nice chatting and sharing pics w/youFew years back, nearly same spot as the tree one before. Land has been recovering from the crap the previous owner did to it. Much less standing water during winter now.The biggest hawthorns on the fenceline. We took 1/3 to 1/2 off the bottom on this side of the fence to make them passable.
Winter sunsets over the pond here rock
