What is an egg cooker?
It is a covered shallow aluminum basin that boils a small amount of water to cook up to 7 eggs at a time with the steam. My first one looks like a chicken and was given to my daughter many years ago by a friend (the comb and wattles have broken off, lol). The ones I have now have clear dome lids and they are made by Mr. Coffee brand. I found them at Goodwill stores but they must sell them other places too. You have to prick a tiny hole in the fat part of the egg using the tack in the cooking tray and then put them on the tray so they are pointed end down to keep them from exploding while cooking. You choose how hard you want your eggs by the amount of water in the basin after measuring it with a marked cup. When I run two of them at the same time I have over a dozen hard boiled eggs in under 10 minutes since each one holds up to 7 eggs. There is another tray to make 4 poached eggs but I don't use that feature. If you put the boiled eggs into cold water to cool, some water goes through the prick hole to help the shells slide right off when you crack them too. I only use a pot to boil eggs to decorate for Easter due to the prick hole needed for cooking them in the cooker, otherwise I use the egg cookers.
