Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

One mistake I made I didn't put a bottom in I got hit with gophers and voles/mice I will put 1/2" hardware cloth on the bottom this year. The garden did so well they didn't hurt me to bad but it ticked me off. I also had about 20 grow bags I grew potatoes in they did really well and easy to harvest just dump them out.

And they are super easy to water, and no weeds, and you do not have to hunker or bend down, and no gophers can get 'em !

I use my tire beds for crops that like a more heat than we typically get here on the coast. Good for peppers and cucumbers.
good for retaining walls...I do not care for anything grown in old rubber...too much controvery about using rubber on playing fields and in gardens & walkways....personally they are ugly.
I have 2 stacks I don't use anymore...just sitting around.

I have friends who had expensive RR ties brought in & stacked up for beautiful raised beds.....but I did not mention how poisonous they are.
These shown below are made of treated lumber...also poisonous !

Had alot of people use them & old tires around landscaping & koi ponds and they could not figure out why their koi kept dying....

My raised beds are made with just plain 2x12s. Nothing fancy and cheap to replace when they eventually need it. I'm planning on using feed sacks for potatoes this year. Haven't tried them that way yet.

I need to get off my bum and get a bed prepped and peas in. I have hoops and netting to keep the deer out this year
