Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I'm back after a long hiatus and a move to Lewis County. So happy to be out of Seattle, and I seem to have less of a predator problem here (with the exception of the eagles that are nesting in my field). Hopefully my turkeys will keep the eagles at bay.

Hey everyone!!! Just dropping in and say hi :) anyone in Lakewood or tacoma in here that has chickens?

Hello there.

No chickens for sale here right now.

I have around 42 adult birds and 11 chicks at the moment.

About to put some barnyard mix eggs into the bator since I've had sucky luck getting new blue egg layers. So easter egger and ameraucana hens covered by a silkie rooster. Since I only have silkie roosters

Currently we’re at 4 weeks old and outgrowing the brooder! It’s too cold to let them outside at all, so they are in the garage, but we’re trying to come up with a big enough space to contain the 12 of them ! Thinking a dog yard (metal fencing that folds up) with netting on the top so they don’t fly out! what did I get myself into?! LolView attachment 1308186
When we raised 6, they were in the guest room with opened cardboard boxes making a large enclosed area (the boxes were flat), newspaper, and lots of shavings. It was a mess. When they got a bit bigger, we put saw horses in the area to hold up netting to keep them contained. It wasn't a great set up, but they survived and so did we!
