Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

well 5 eggs I think under Dirt now none more than a day apart she took them all
Mud is happy with her 1 takes her all over now but it sleeps under her skirts still

It's been to long! I recently added a baby to our family (the human kind). Now one of my hens is broody! Our chicken acquaintance who I nicknamed my "chicken dealer" is giving us some fertile eggs tomorrow to give her. My question as s first time chicken mom is do I let her be broody in the coop? Don't really have room in my house for her and the eggs.

I build a nest box out of plywood and put it in a colapsable dog cage I think they are 36” x24” make a nest from straw put eggs in the nest in the evening and go get the broody and let her go faceing the eggs. They normally zoom onto the eggs. Keep water and food in the crate.

Run or coop itself not sure how big your coop is in did a little box square big enough
for the hen 3 x 3 if you cover birds will roost on it mine is open off the floor less than a inch whole oblong for size of broody's she needs to be safe in there I have a lip so peeps have to be bigger to get out till she wants them too
