Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I'm waiting for some actual rain, not the tease we've had. I need it to wash the ash off the top of the silkie pen roof. I don't want that abrasive stuff between the layers when I put new tarps over the top.

The new greenhouse tarps came yesterday so I started putting them on the open sides. If I'd had them, the wind wouldn't have pulled off the roof tarp when the wind blew the wrong way. They will keep some of the rain out of the pens as well.

The one side was tarped last fall and that helped a ton. They actually kept some of the sun heat out as well this summer while allowing lots of light in.

Another pink sun this afternoon. It actually looks better down low right now. We got a pretty good rain the other night and I have a couple buckets under the downspouts on the coop and man that water was gross! Fortunately the water I have under the coop roof looked fine, but I cleaned them all out this morning so for the moment everyone has clean water.
I sure hope this gets resolved soon!

Shoot by tomorrow we may be back to normal. First time in a long time that there was happiness hearing rain! It’s been a rough week, hopefully those fires are handled and no more people lose their homes/lives.

On a possibly good note... Found the last egg from my duck that died due to the smoke. It could be too old, but I put it in the incubator anyways. Fingers crossed!

I'm so glad things are better for you! I have the same hope!

I hope the egg is fertile and it will hatch for you, that would be so awesome! Keep us updated!
