Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Nice wide holes in the roof netting helps it not collapse. Go out, grab it, and shake it occasionally when it's snowing no matter what the size.

I use straw in the runs. It controls the mud fine if you put the proper amount down. I just put down 4 and a half bales in an open 15x35 run. It will last about 4 months for me. The ground has built up over the years and doesn't flood as bad now.

Just got home ran to Chehalis went straight out to the birds also stopped at the feed store we buy from so had to get that in the coop.. Red is starting to get some feathers back he was darn near bald he is almost 2 now .. Smudge my blue marans rooster is just starting his first good molt

I’m sick of the rain already, and it’s only November. It seems much worse than usual. The run is super muddy, so I’m trying to figure out what to do about that. The muddy run thread was really helpful. I’d hoped the grass would stick around but it’s GONE. Ugh.

I finally picked back up a sewing project I’ve been procrastinating for two years because I’m intimidated. I’m making insulated curtains for my living room and dining room. I started in the guest room so I’d get good practice and learn my lessons, and I’m glad I did! They came out well even though I made mistakes. They took about eight hours per panel, though. Since I have to make eight more panels I guess it’s good we’ve canceled our thanksgiving plans...

I've done drapes a few times...such a pain, but they can last a lifetime. The first ones are the hardest, once you find your pace the rest will come together quicker.:D

It is a beautiful sunny day for once. I have been bringing out the chicks (about 8-9 weeks old now) out for free-range practice with Pru, my hen when the weather is (rarely) decent. I do things in the yard for about an hour and supervise, Pru is so happy to have a flock again. She is finally not grabbing the chick's food and I have seen them eating and sleeping together. Integration has taken awhile but it is working out. Yay!
