We had about half an inch when I went out at 8:30. Wet, heavy, slushy stuff. There is light rain again so it's going away.

Good news for the south end!

Our power has gone out twice already. With a couple inches of slush, then rain mixed with snow makes for some heavy branches.

No good for the 41 eggs currently 10 days in...

Not too worried about the eggs. House has a generator and going outside to grab the little one out of the garage. Might as well set it up now so I don’t have to do it in the middle of the night.

And the people we bought the property from said their power went out once in 16 years.... weird! Seems like it goes out once a month lol

We lose it fairly often if there are higher winds. So well over a dozen times a year. I'm surprised we didn't lose it today. That year we had all the snow and ice, we were out for 5 days. Wood stove was a lifesaver as it's heat and cooking. We had to open windows from the heat. I melted snow in front of it and filled a camping shower.

Generator ran the fridge, freezer, and entertainment.

Last time we needed the generator was this summer when that fire 2 miles from us burned the powerlines.

What I would give for a wood stove...

Our power went out completely around 1am. Ran out and got the little generator for the incubator going. This morning started at 6am with turning on the house generator. No heat and couldn’t shower! Going to be a gross day at work lol

Hey all anyone know of a local breeder that has Heritage Rhode island Reds? I am trying to get a flock started and wanted to see if I could get stock from somewhere local.

I am in Gig Harbor and new to this site. Have been raising chickens for a while and decided to start doing my part to keep heritage birds strong and available. We just keep a small flock on our farm and would love to use our little 20 bird coup to have some beautiful single comb RIRs.
