Hello all! So, it's been forever since I posted, looking for a blue Andalusian rooster. (Thank you again Stephanie). We're finally getting eggs out of Ms Blue, and will be sharing those with Stephanie.
The unfortunate lesson (which I know I should have figured out in a web search) is that Andalusians are NOT happy with N Washington. The did okay and are healthy but, no eggs between October and April. Zero. Um. I really can't have a flock of these beautiful birds! I need breakfast during the winter! And I only have space for a dozen birds at most.
So. I don't have room for proper chicken breeding, so I hate to pester anyone with Heritage Dorkings for example, but I was thinking about other 'blue' possiblities that might handle the winter with more aplomb. Suggestions? Thank you!!

Well I put the mama hen back with her sisters last night. Smooth reintegration. Head hen of that pen made sure she knew who was still in charge but that was all done within 10 minutes. One of her sisters and her aunt were very happy to see her. You could almost hear the "where have you been for over 2 months?!" She was snuggled next to her sister last night.

Her chicks are 9.5 weeks and part of the large fowl flock. They weren't really following mama anymore so they will be fine. They aren't at the bottom of the pecking order so it's not bad for them. They've been free ranging and hanging with the flock for a couple weeks.

Wow have 8 under the two of them not keeping any me thinks getting like 12 a day keeps everyone in eggs..
Odd this year peeps are not selling like last year here

Anyone on this thread in the whatcom county area that has/breeds khaki Campbell's, Ancona's or magpie ducks?

My local tsc had some potential khaki Campbell's today....so so SO hard not to walk out with a couple!!

I would love more this year but thinking I will try and wait till next spring we shall see lol
