Hi all!
Been searching the internet with oddly limited results, so thought I'd give us a try.
I've got a tiny mixed flock, and my young turkey Genevieve is broody in a scary way. She's been a statue for weeks, I can't even get her to look at mealworms most the time. I could break her nest and her heart to snap her out of it. But I've been thinking of aquiring one or more wee chicks, or fertile eggs, for her to mother.
They'd grow up to be (a) pet(s). Another turkey, for her sake, would be ideal, but it could be another bird.
It feels wrong to rule them out this way, but large, unhealthy "meat" type birds would not be ideal. I get that beggars can't be choosers tho.

What type of Bird. I have Fertile eggs but all chickens.

I really think it's feather picking/bullying this go around and not really broody behavior in my flock. I took "up skirt" pics of my gals last night and most of the have bald bellies! We had part of our roosts fall down in the really cold months...I had it partially up and that only sort of worked. I got it back up today, so I'm hoping that helps some! I had a very vivid dream last night that it solved my my troubles, so here's hoping!

Today was the best for weather here sleveless all day.

I got off my rear and mowed some for the first time. Some of that grass was 2 feet tall. Of course the mower battery was about dead, which I assumed. Got to try out the portable jump starter battery pack. It worked like a charm. Mowed for an hour so it should start next time.

The last egg is hatching right now. I'll put Molly into the broody coop with eggs next time. Some hens couldn't resist her nest it seems. Good thing Molly doesn't care if I just keep adding chicks to her group.
