Hi all! I joined BYC back in May and someone (I'm sorry I forgot who) invited me over to the Washington thread. Life got busy and I didn't have a chance to really participate until now.

I'm sorry to ask a newbie question. The days are warm (hot, really hehe ) but the night temps are still in the 50s. Is is OK to leave 8 week old fully feathered pullets out in the coop overnight now? I've been brining them in because from what I read they need temps in the 60s... What do you all do? Thanks & I'm looking forward to getting to know you all.

I realize this is a bit of a long shot, but is there perhaps anyone in the area that would like a four month old blue laced red wyandotte cockerel? We have neighbors, and he has recently found his voice, and trying to keep him quiet is driving us up one wall, and down the other.

Ah, well. Thank you for the response anyway. I hope so too, but I know most people are in the market for hens. He's an incidental rooster, and came as a pullet chick.

Welcome I am very south of you but in the state.
You could butcher said cockerel.

That will be my only option if I can't find anyone who wants him. I hate the idea as I've never slaughtered anything before.

I know it's the way of things, and I have a lot of respect for people who can process their birds, and other livestock. I'm not sure if I'll ever get there.
