Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Update on my dog’s paw. She started vomiting quite a bit so took her into vet. Turned out to be an allergic reaction to a bee sting. So it wasn’t me that caused a burned paw. I was feeling so bad about that!

Back to chickens. I added 13 marans eggs to the incubator yesterday. I have a hatched batch of chicks that need moved out to my coop brooder. They are the noisiest bunch I’ve ever had. Will do that this weekend. My hemp bedding arrived and I’ve set aside the weekend for chicken chores. Going to clean out the coop.
I'm so happy your dog is not suffering from a burnt paw, but very sad about the bee sting. Hope she will be okay now.

Yes! It's nice to get back to normal, weatherwise.

My pullets did great today after getting their extended foraging time yesterday evening. They're all acting perfectly healthy this morning, no soft or broken eggs on the floor and 7 nice eggs laid so far in the nests. And the 8th pullet is working on laying her egg, so I'm pretty sure the pullets will have batted 1000 today!

I need to grind or shred my zucchinis today for the relish I'm making. Not sure if I should use my Kitchen Aid slicer/shredder or my little food processor. I'm thinking that cutting the squash into spears, then running them through the KA shredder would be the way to go. And the peppers and onions in the food processor...

Once that's done, I'll plant my fall crop of kale and Brussels sprouts.

Morning Processing the first two boxes of tomato today rest on Sunday.
My brussle sprouts are still growing have like 7 of them.
@Becks Chicks so two lessons their paws are about the same as our bare foot.
childs liquid benedryl is easier to dose on a dog.

Thank you! I didn't even think of bee sting yesterday; though, it makes perfect sense in hindsight.

Will definitely be more aware of hot pavement from now on. I felt terrible yesterday thinking this was my fault.

Just got egg #8 from a new layer. It was oversized and thin shelled, and somebody pecked a little hole in it! But they didn't try to eat it, which is good.

I threw it and 6 other eggs (3 were double yolkers) in a skillet and made scrambled eggs for the birds, with some added pulverized oyster shells for extra calcium. Never gave my chickens scrambled eggs, so watching them eat it should be interesting!

Anyone on the East side have fertilized eggs they want hatched? I now have 2 incubators that I am dying to use, but no room to add to my own flock! This is like "chicken math" on steroids y'all! I'm even considering learning how to make a quail setup inside the house just so I can use the danged things! To be fair, I have to write reviews for Amazon on them....so I can't drag my feet too long. I had 2 people take me up on my offer to incubate eggs for them and give them all the chicks, but I haven't heard from either of them in a week! Hubby is headed to the SeaTac area today and is coming home Sunday if anyone "over there" has goose eggs that are fertilized, lol. But really, I won;t be ready for my own geese until next Spring anyway...

Finally a cool enough day to clean the coop. All fresh straw in there now.

We picked up some pellets because we have always fed crumbles. I’ve only seen Cooper go for what’s on the ground, which is always plenty, but thought I’d set up a pellet feed station and he went right for it.

All happy chickens today. Well every day.
