I picked up the chicks an hour ago and it wasn't good. Only one is standing, eating and drinking. Two are barely alive and might not make it. The other 13 didn't survive.

I'll try one more time. McMurray Hatchery is sending me a full replacement order next week.

And to add, the customer service has been excellent, both phone calls and texts.

And that is why I would not order chicks to be shipped to me. I could not deal with that. But, when I ordered hatching eggs to be shipped, and only one was viable, it turned out to be the best rooster I ever had. So, maybe you have a wonderful rooster there.

And that is why I would not order chicks to be shipped to me. I could not deal with that. But, when I ordered hatching eggs to be shipped, and only one was viable, it turned out to be the best rooster I ever had. So, maybe you have a wonderful rooster there.

That would be nice if he becomes a good rooster. I'm pretty sure he'll be alone for a week so I'm thinking about putting a couple rolled up socks in there for him to lay between, and a mirror too. Maybe that would help.

Thanks for the offer PennyJo, but I want to get New Hampshire male chicks to go with my NH pullets so I'll have a self sustaining NH flock.

Oaky it was a offer not sure I know anyone with them.
I am getting the breeder birds again they last longer than hatchery birds in my opinion.

They do have excellent service!!
I am sorry you too had this issue. The airline’s handling of the chicks is very rough and way too cold.

I still have three chicks this morning. One is active and seems healthy, the other two are still lethargic. I went to the local hardware store to see if they had any chicks yesterday afternoon, planning to buy one of any kind just so the healthy chick had good company. But they had none.

When I picked my chicks up yesterday there were three more boxes of chicks on the PO countertop, a couple were big, probably 100 chick size. They were making lots of noise chirping, so I guess the PO does OK shipping chicks sometimes.

The clerk told me she thought only a couple were alive in my box, apologized, and acted like she thought I might complain. I just said "it happens", and left. She was probably relieved. LOL

One of the lethargic chicks perked up and is eating and drinking now so I think he'll make it. I bought a pair of Rhode Island red pullets at Wilco to keep them company.

Do you have any nutri-drench? That would help the sick chicks.
