Smokerbill
Crossing the Road
I'm pretty sure the 7 New Hampshires I got are all female. I think I'll be set now with the 7 NH and 2 RI pullets, and a pair of NH cockerels. I lost the struggling one today.
I gave the girls outside a few bowls of wet feed. Since I started feed the higher protein All Flock feed the eggs I get are much better quality. Larger size, better shells and bigger yolks. I still need to look for those real crushed oyster shells...
I still haven't chick-proofed the fencing around the day run so all 12 have been confined to the secure run and coop for the last week. It's about 120 square feet including the coop, so they have about 10 feet each, and they seem ok about it.
I'll try to work on the day run this weekend. I'll also need to build and hang a door of some kind.
