Oh, phooey. I had a whole post ready about whether raw green beans are poisonous (conclusion: probably not in anything but enourmous quantities) and I hit return twice in succession and it went away!
Anyway: do an experiment. Google "raw green beans are poisonous" and read the first ten articles. Then google "onions are toxic to animals" and do the same. The difference is remarkable.
(I've spent a lot of time in my life doing research and getting paid for it, even; what my BS detector is telling me from what I find on-line is that there's wide-spread belief in various culture that raw green beans are poisonous, but that the evidence is not in, while raw kidney beans, especially, are straight-up very bad for you, and home canned green beans were once the leading cause of botulism poisoning).
And now I have to go feed the last pen of chooks, do another round of checking for eggs, and then go out and grocery shop until I fall off my feet.
