Oh, phooey. I had a whole post ready about whether raw green beans are poisonous (conclusion: probably not in anything but enourmous quantities) and I hit return twice in succession and it went away!

Anyway: do an experiment. Google "raw green beans are poisonous" and read the first ten articles. Then google "onions are toxic to animals" and do the same. The difference is remarkable.

(I've spent a lot of time in my life doing research and getting paid for it, even; what my BS detector is telling me from what I find on-line is that there's wide-spread belief in various culture that raw green beans are poisonous, but that the evidence is not in, while raw kidney beans, especially, are straight-up very bad for you, and home canned green beans were once the leading cause of botulism poisoning).

And now I have to go feed the last pen of chooks, do another round of checking for eggs, and then go out and grocery shop until I fall off my feet.

My friend's dog went home last night, and now my own dog is laying the guilt on thick for being left alone. Nothing is as sad as a lonely old dog, who keeps getting up and tottering around to try to find her friend. *sigh*



I'm sorry dog, but we just can't go out and adopt another dog right now. I feel so guilty about it. The irony is, my friend's dog had so much fun over here that she wanted to come back with us, whined for a while after we left her house, and isn't eating all her food today. But she needs to stay with her owner. Dang it, my dog keeps looking up and me and giving me the sad Disney eyes.

Now she's outside looking out the gate for her buddy. I feel like such a heel.

But have you checked to see what may be getting into the meat from the foil? While it is aluminum foil there are things in aluminum that are less than healthy. And IF you really are using "tin foil" to keep in mind that tin has a high content of zinc.

There ain't nothin' safe to eat in the crazy world, is there?

Latte is coming in with white and black stripes. Heavy on the white. I can't find anything out there that looks anything like her funky color pattern. I've got a really cool zebra chick.

Agree with you. Stumpfarmer wrote up a wonderful recipe for us. So I decided to start a "chicken tip" file from BYCers. I can go to it to use the advice given as needed. ~Dee~

That's a good idea. I should do that. It will save time from doing searches in the thread.

I got the most eggs ever this week.  13 eggs from 2 hens.  We can't use them all.  What are we going to do when all 4 start laying
