Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Quote: PLEASE make sure you have a PROPER fixture for that light. NO CHEAP clamp on lights. They are a fire waiting to happen. ONLY use a fixtire that is rated for the size bulb OR MORE!!!.

Oh yeah, I do. It is a shop light with 300W bulb. I have it mounted to the wall with a 1/4" thick lag hook and feet of the lamp are screwed to the wall. That thing is not coming off without serious force. It is one of the yellow halogen ones from Home Depot.

Definitely DO NOT use sand in a run that gets wet, I speak from experience. Wet sand + poop = cement! And it smells bad too!

ETA. I mean CONCRETE. :)

I think I'm going to have to take out my "dust bin" full of sand through the winter. That thing's beginning to stink, even though I scoop it with a cat scoop daily. The water splashes up from the bricks around it and soaks it. It's too bad, too, cause the girls love to roost on the edge of it.

Hey everyone, I'm a brand new chicken lover and plan on getting 8 chicks this spring, still researching what kind and reading lots and lots. I accidently found this site and already love it! I live in Sequim, WA (between Port Townsend and Port Angeles). Hope to get involved in this forum and make a bunch of peep friends. (Did I say that right?)

Yep, you said it right.
