Yep the are girl chainsaws. At least that's how I think of my little electric chainsaw that I bought on clearance at Sears some years ago. I can always get thing to start for me, unlike DH's manly chainsaw. Several of the neighbors have even bigger saws, but if I can't get it started then it's nothing but a garage ornament as far as I'm concerned.

This summer I did buy a pull start 4 cycle trimmer, that you can also a cultivator blades too. Thank goodness that it came with a free electric starter. The only way I can get it started by myself is with the electric starter. DH can get it started without the starter, but that just wears me out so bad that I don't have the energy to get the real job done.

It's a shame about the chainsaw you bought though. They should have warned you, that it needed serviced. I am sure that DH could have fixed, and it would have been a good saw again. I have had to learn how to put the chain back on both of my electric chain type saws. It wasn't fun until I finally got it all back together, and it was working again. Some days I just don't want to wait for DH to get home, and I just want the job done now. It also helps that DH has a great tool set, and I have been known tao play with them.

I can usually fix most things by myself, but I don't always bother cause it gives DH a reason to come home.
Well my DH and FIL looked at the chainsaw after I had gotten through with it, and declared it to be thrown out after discovering there were no parts available for it on internet. They are both fix-it men and I was happy to never use it again so they didn't get an argument from me!

I am glad that it taught me respect for chainsaws. Because before I was

way too go-gettin with it! Y'all take care, now!

I think I'm just struggling because my entire Silkie program was based around Zonie, and now I don't have him any longer. I almost decided to rehome them all but then Vestal, the little blue girl, kept coming over to see me and making happy noises when I spoke to her and split wing or no, she may have a home here forever!

I have a lot to catch up on! But I'm just gonna jump in cause I need some advice,

please. I don't understand the preferences of my hens. I free range and they will only go in there coop if necessary. (roosting at night and laying eggs)
I have 5 hens. 1 roost 4" thick 10' long 3ft off floor. 3 nesting boxes 1ft off floor. vinyl flooring with a bit of DE for easier poop removal. A light for warmth. A tire with sand and DE for dusting(that they have never used) And there feeder with pellets that they wont eat unless I refuse to give them treats. They spend there day pecking the grass, digging in the garden and sitting/pooing on the back door steps.

Pips n Peeps does have wonderful Ameraucanas. Didn't know your blues went to JB. Do you just have the 2 silkies now? Who's left in your flock?

All five Ams that I got from her were stunning. The boys had this beautiful iridescent sheen on their legs. But, JB needed blue egg layers and I think they will be happier at her place where she has a decent sized coop/run and occasional free ranging opportunities, as opposed to living here where they are condemned to tractor living because of all the predators.

I'm now down to six mixed layers and the two Silkies, and am probably going to be giving two of the layers to a friend who lost a couple of hers. But, that opens up room for new chicks in the spring.

Thank you Greg!!! I just e-mailed them. I just hope that I don't have to dig out around the posts that have been set in concrete. We have used a dog run that we picked up may years ago, for all sorts of things over the years. We are still using one of the panels a gate to the chickens run, and there are still a panel or two that can still be used for something else. So I hope that I get a response from these people. I also want to thank you for the Mother Earth links that you have recently posted. I have them stashed in a Word file for future reference. Thanks again.

Greg, I want to thank you, too, for posting all the great Craig's List finds. A while back I got a huge bag of DE for free, and yesterday I got an unopened bag of layer feed and a chicken tractor for a great price. I'm pretty sure you had posted those links. So... thank you!

Normal chicken behavior.

Hey -- I would get rid of the light for heat. I'm assuming they are fully feathered (over 10 weeks). You are actually doing them a disservice by providing heat, not to mention the unnecessary fire hazard. Other than that, your coop set up sounds super

Well I was kept up lastnight by the sweet little peeping from the chick whos egg was pipped before I put them into lockdown. She hatched just after 1am. Then I woke up to many lil peeps, 4 chicks were out by 8am and now I have 6 hatched 2 zipping and 4 more pips! The eggs that have hatched were barred rock eggs and EE eggs. Really excited for some of my white leghorn eggs and my RIR eggs to hatch!
Thank goodness I did not shrink wrap that first chick and she made it out!

Look forward to seeing pictures of these chicks!
