Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Thus easy to dig in.

As do I, and I'm wondering if you will want a few (dozen?) lilacs for that hedge; the Pink Elizabeth, in particular, has a nice forest of young'uns and a graceful upright growth habit and (oh, goodie, an excuse to put up a picture!) lovely blooms, to whit:

I may have some others- Pres.Grevy and Will Klager are possibles- and t'would be the work of a minute to get them dug and sacked. Any time, no pressure, not as if I can no longer get to the fence on this side or anything...

(This offer open to any and all BYC Washingtonians, these are Lilacs from Hilda Klager Lilac Garden).

How well do Lilacs do with wet soil? We dry out fully in summer and I'd plant them on what qualifies as high ground here. Probably over by the pears. There is marsh out back and I know the water level is pretty high. I love the smell of lilacs. I always liked it at my great aunts when they were blooming.

Mine are doing really well....they are a very dark purple variety.
I give them no slack...and they are in clay.
And it is one wet booger here.

I have two gallon jugs that I use. I go out and toss the ice and cold water out of the bowls and pour in the fresh water. This year will probably take two trips.
I have winter water fonts I use, inside the coops. They do not freeze in there.

Since these 1/2 gallon crate bowls cost so much, we have recently tried Yuban plastic cans, drilled & then add a screw to the wall to hang up off the coop floor (to prevent tipping and keep poop out) and it is working great !

That's exactly what I'm using mine for right now too. I've got 7 fully feathered chicks in there w/a covered exercise pen around it for their day time outings. It's working great!!

Hmmm, I'm not sure. When was the grand opening?
Labor day weekend !!!

I think we got them mid Sept. Maybe they were babies that didn't sell as soon as they normally do? Who knows? Not me. All I know is they've been fully feathered for about a week or so now. I'll go w/8 weeks then.

Bwahahahahaha, that was hilarious!!

Quote: I am not going to submerge them. I will actually make hangers so they hang in the bucket at a safe level. Some others have done this and it's worked, but they definitely didn't submerge them! Lol! I can only imagine what my chickens woud be saying about me, loudly!

If I can't make it work, then I will just bring them in every night or use my heated waterers.
OK so IF Kim's heater shorts out and her chickens get zapped the will have a new feather design. Chickens with a fro and frizzle that are Silkie !!!

What will they be called.
Sizzled.

Hehehe, love it.

Shall we just fix this story so it makes sense?

and as for the FB welllll see seems somebody got into the middle of (rustling chickens) where they had no business (not me). Several of us were already helping (rustle some chickens) and then somebody called law enforcement (because their chickens were being rustled). There was NOTHING illegal or wrong in any way (because we had permission to rustle some chickens). So when I spoke out to the one (who had their chickens rustled and) who called the cops. That was the point when I got locked out (and the chickens were locked back in). Then a while later the entire post and most of what I had posted that night went invisible (and the chickens had a good night sleep) !!! All seems OK now.

....and the truth shall set you free!!! LOL

HAVE ANY OF YOU SEEN THIS ON THE NEWS? Well when I saw the first clip on the news I told DW Hey that's that place down the road. Then they released the address YUP Down there where the "less than Desireables" live. What a shame he didn't wander down this way I would have gladly given him some help with his problem!

I hadn't seen that. That's horrible! Maybe he'll get a taste of his own medicine while in lock up!

OK...I'll try to upload the ones I like the best:

Argyl Square

Next, Beginner's Delight:

Next, Crossed Roads:

Full Quilt:

Next, Depression (from the depression):

Next, End of the Day:

Full quilt:

next, Kristen's:

Full quilt:

Next, Scrapbag:

Full Quilt:

Next, and last,
Wagon Tracks:

Full quilt:

So far, I am partial to Argyl, Kristen's, and Wagon Tracks..........(now I really like "Scrapbag" too !)..........each block will have a 2" border so blocks will not touch as some that are shown here.
Aryl, Crossed Roads and end of the day ( and scrapbag) would have to be done without a border to get the overall effect..................
Colors will be calicoes for baby girl.
Send me a PM & vote !
Argyl is my favorite, followed by wagon tracks, but interesting things could be done with depression.

I like "End of the Day". I think I'll have to try that one.
I've been saving old Harley t-shirts to make a biker quilt. Although I haven't even thought about it for a couple of years. I guess I let school get in the way.

I just posted this on the thread for the WFF Show in Chehalis, but I wanted to repeat it here on the Washington thread....

I'm going to the Chehalis show just to look and chat. I hope to put faces with more of the names I see online. CR, Cloverleaf, and TotalColour are the only folks I've met in person. Would it be possible to schedule a "coffee break" or "tailgate get together" for all the BYC folks to gather and say "hello"?
I read that the coop out is Sunday Morning, so does that mean that most of the activity is Saturday afternoon?

Majombaszo: A link for the show is here: http://washingtonfeatherfanciers.webs.com/wffwintershow.htm It's Nov. 17-18.
I went to a larger show last year and had a really fun time even though I don't show. It's very educational to watch and listen during the judging. I saw breeds I didn't even know existed. And there were things for sale including CR's iron art, eggs, and live birds. Others can tell you more about the WWF show specifically.
I just recently joined BYC. Today I found this thread. My 38th marriage anniversary was last month. I asked to attend this show for the weekend for my gift. Hubby obliged and we will be there! Hoping to find a breeder of excellent reputation to hook up with for RIR. Looking for hens or pullets for my Johnny. Chehalis is a long drive from Whidbey Island. We attended a WFF show back in 1997. I remember seeing a lot of beautiful birds buying a lot of awesome poultry themed books on a sale table. Looking forward to attending again.

Quote: Hope yo meet you!
To anyone whom I haven't met who will be at the show, I will be wearing a t-shirt that says "Got Silkies?" with a picture of silkies on it on Saturday. I may be wearing my blue BYC t-shirt from a couple years ago on Friday. So Stop me and say Hi! My name is Kim, I am pretty nice, and I don't bite, usually!
