Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Love your quilts Chickielady!

Home with the kids this morning; don't want to risk exposing more kids at church :( What a bummer, we had a fun-filled day packed with stuff and now we're home doing nothing. I'm shopping on Amazon for a heated water bowl for the chooks; I don't want to get up at 6:30 anymore to bring them water!

I think I could build a small platform for it for inside the coop and hang the feeder next to it. Was thinking of also having 2x4s around the perimeter of the platform to keep them from knocking over the bowl?

THAT would AWESOME! If she is, she would join Caunnie and Rhodie in coop #1 after Drama gets moved to the bigger coop with the BCMs. I have noticed some feathers that came in black are not black any more.

We've decided when the boys are old enough to go off of lights, we'll probably take Cocoa and Rocha to auction. They were both born with combs, and the combs get bigger and bigger each day. They're even getting bigger than Blackie now. I held them yesterday and they are a lot heavier than Blackie, now, too.

We're going to let Latte and Blackie grow out more before making a decision on them. We figure - if a neighbor comes over for any reason and sees them, they're going to instantly peg us for having boys - if they see Cocoa and Rocha. But, Blackie has such a feminine looking face (although we still think he is a boy because of his 3 row comb), and Latte doesn't have a comb at all yet, we figure we could pass them off as girls for a while.

You may have missed my post about the 3 row combs...the thread was moving awfully fast at that point and even I wasn't keeping up at all. The run-down of my Easter Eggers is as follows: Laya- teensy tiny single comb, Martha- 3 row pea comb (and she's definitely a girl!), Louise- single row pea comb (girl!), Thelma- 3 row pea comb (now laying eggs). As you can see, that makes NO difference in cross breeds; have hope my dear friend!

Is this one sufficient for inside my coop this winter? It's cheap and has good reviews, and hold a lot for my flock. WDYT?

Why do you need a heated bowl if it is inside the coop ?
I have water fonts & buckets inside my coops and they have never frozen...you really think yours will ?
I could see if it was outside the coop..but inside it should not freeze, not here in Western WA anyways....
