Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

So, here are the new birds!

Black silkie from Marjorie Best. I had to prove to my husband that she had a beak and eyes, lol. When I got home she was passed out cold in a heap of fluffy feathers and he couldn't find a face in all of it.

White crested Polish hen. I love her! I really really hope she is as healthy as she looks:

Love the Polish!
But I was wondering, Did Marge say that your silkie was black? It looks blue. She has very dark blues so it's hard to tell. What color is the under fluff?
Not that it makes a difference unless you are going to be breeding. She is super cute. I got a blue and 3 splash from her.
I should be set for breeding this spring. May have to start early if I get a broody! It's a sickness I tell ya!

We had a tarp roof collapse down on the silkie pen, and fill with way to much water. I was out there baling water out. We got two more supports cut and put up, and raised it back up. It's much sturdier now and hopefully there won't anymore issues.

The quarantine coop is surrounded by a moat, but it's dry inside. We put it on a high spot when we moved it. The silkie run and the main run are pretty good. Last year the main run was a puddle but we filled in so much that it's good now.
I have decided that most of my silkies are going down to the barn. It's not like their run is a lake, but the poor babies are never really dry! I went and set up temporary pens tonight, but need more shavings. On tomorrows to do list. Love my babies!

I raked almost 50lbs of fir needles off my tarp over my coop. Stupid wind and rain. I can't wait to get started on my pallet coop for the birds. Couple more weeks of pallet colection and then I can start.
So to those of you that are also using tarps over your runs and coops, do you find that water condenses and drips from underneath? I have alot of that going on in my silkie pen. Thinking of getting something else to cover it. But not sure what.
Any ideas? Anyone?

Mine doesn't, it is a heavy duty double layered tarp. And I have a lot of ventilation.

I went with the clear tarps and they are fine over the LF pen, some condensation but there should be plenty of air flow under it. It's up about 5-6 feet.

I'm sorry I missed the show - missed seeing all my buds and meeting new ones. Oh well, next show.

Hope everyone's keeping dry and safe. I'm in the kitchen cleaning, disjointing and vacu-sealing ducks (himself offed 20 yesterday) so I'm pretty busy but not wet.

Only 18 more ducks to sell (anyone want some tasty Muscovies for the holidays, if not, they go to Yardbirds on Saturday. One can only eat so much duck, no matter how tasty it is!
Hey if yer bringing them down. Let me know if ya wanna meet up. BTW I have been told that coal creek is better for LF than Yard birds is.

OMG, just got home from taking my son to work. Taking Key Pen backroads we came upon a sign that said 'water over roadway' placed about 10 ft from the actual water (hello people who put the sign there). Well, wasn't going to slam on my breaks and we have a big truck so we went for it. Blamo! That was soooo much fun that on the way back, even though I had been warned, I didn't slow down. Bwhahahaha! What the heck, you only live once. OK, CR, I'm sure you will give a lecture and burst my bubble but IT WAS FUN!
OK YES but just because we love ya. Be careful silly that can be very dangerous and potentially deadly to the engine in your nice truck.
