Rainplace WELCOME BACK !!!!! been wondering about ya.

OK gotta question for ya all. Has anybody ever had trouble with bears and yer chickens ?? Today I found Yogi poo in where we use to keep goats. The only way it got in there is to walk between the chicken run and a fence about 5 feet away. And then it had to come back out the same way. I am actually more concerned about the hive of bees I have in that pen than I am the chickens. My coop/ run is pretty secure. This was all with in 200 feet of our house. We may be eatin bear soon.

Honestly out here our bears are pretty timid. . . We've had bear poo in our place before we got it up and running with chickens and yaks and all, but since then - I think all the commotion scared em off.

I would worry about the bees if I were you though - But the chickens, not really. Bears are more for just scavenging in garbage foods.

I'd guess the honey would be in more danger then the chickens but since it is fall and they are stocking up fat to hibernate I'd watch the bird pens too. Maybe you can get some rubber pellet shots for a shotgun? The Fish/wildlife re-locators tend to shoot rubber pellets at the bears who get to close to humans. after a couple times they learn people = loud noise and some bruises..

Or you could stock the freezer

Although this may be a shock or just plain odd or wrong to some peope - I don't believe in vaccines, especially for people. Consider that over 20000 die each year from the average flu, yet Pharma companies are trying to shove the Swine flu scare on us, making us take MORE vaccines (which by the way often carry mercury) and for what - 6-8 deaths? Wow.

Also, of my entire life that I've never had a vaccine, I've gotten the flu ONCE - And it lasted one day.

I see vaccinated people get flus all the time. . . Yet we continue to pump that stuff into ourselves. And pay for it.

Also, vaccines do wonderful things for us, like make autism a common thing.

Illia, We don't believe in vaccines iether. Every child in my family that has gotten a vaccine has been hospitalized directly because of the effects from the vaccine. But the the kids who have had NO vaccines have been perfectly healthy. And me personally, I prefer to build my imunities the old fashioned way. Natural exposure...

I get alot of guff, from quite a few people, about my views on vaccinations. But to each their own, what is right for one person, is not always right for everyone else.

I did catch a mild bug, felt terrible all week, but the suckiest part of it all is the fact that my husband got sick as well. He's the typical guy when he is sick too... Whiney and dramatic about every sniffle. lol So what should have taken me two or three days to get over, has taken me a week to START feeling better... Hopefully this bug runs its course and is done soon. Because I am no good at being sick, and stuck in the house. I've got to much to do...

With the mention of corn I think it is worth pointing out that corn does chickens no good. It actually adds bad omegas to the eggs. Also if you are only feeding like a 16% and feed scratch the corn will drop the protien level too low. If you are going to feed corn your normal feed should be about 20%.

That is a great item! to bad I'm to far away lol I'd try to get it for a lower price :}

I know! I saw that and a light turned on upstairs. lol That would make a killer little brooder coop. With a few modifications. But... Its a little steep of a price, with the distance I would have to go... So why not share!
