FYI: Trying to get the news out to people so that more birds are vaccinated and poultry hobbyists can work towards community immunity (ie, how we have mostly eliminated diseases like measles, mumps, rubella) or 'flock' immunity.

Jean Ribbeck purchased some vaccines in bulk. She will be bringing them to the show in Stevenson, WA next weekend (October 16) for people who want to buy them. She has Mareks, Coryza, ILT and MG. I highly recommend vaccinating against MG and Mareks at a minimum, although ILT has been in WA and OR, and Coryza is seen in CA.

I don't know if she needs to know how many to bring before the show (they have to be kept in a cooler)... but these vaccines are NOT the type that will cause your birds to shed the disease and be a health risk to other birds/flocks. Each vial can do 1000 birds BUT you can split the vaccine and get several uses out of it. Highly worth it.

I thought I'd post this question locally.
I'm in Seattle and have 3 young girls (all 25 weeks) who share a coop with a run of 3' x 6'. Originally they where only going to be cooped up at night or when we went away. But now the wife wants them locked up whenever we're not home. Is that enough space to keep them happy?
Right now when we get home from work they get out for a few hours before they put themselves to bed, but in a month I'm sure they'll be asleep when we get home. I put power out there over the weekend and have a morning light (comes on at 6:30am but goes out at 10:00am) I suppose I can have it stay on until 7:30pm if they need it. Do they?
They aren't laying yet.
I guess that's two questions.

Hi everyone,

Was out mowing the front yard after work today and a car pulled up and I hear a voice saying- Are you the chicken guy? I said "yes" and then realized it must be "woman in shoe". After introductions we had a nice conversation. She hatched out 9 chicks from her styrofoam homemade incubator, they are in Westport now. Well she was a nice person and it was pleasure to meet her.
