Oh i hate when they do that....... My silkies last yr did that but they refused to be seperated, drove me batty i was lucky they hatched out anything.....

This yr they are looking at me like im insane leaving eggs for them

Oh no... maybe if I do get some chicks for these crazy hormone raged girls I should get a good handful so they don't have to fight over one....

It's kind of funny, my mom says the birds bite her when she goes in and pulls out eggs the other girls leave behind, yet they seem to not bother me. Silly birds, I'm a greater threat to them than my mom is!

oh om gosh i see the sun has blessed us for a while today,( WHERE'S MY SUNGLASSES)

Why didn't anybody warn me about the poop factor when raising meat chicks? LOL!!! I clean their brooder about 5 times a day. Thank goodness they are outside so we don't have to smell it. I can't wait until it's time to eat them though.

Terra did you ever get your meat chicks? I will probably be getting more in about a month.

Spokane here...Pleasant Prairie, just behind Arbor Crest for those of you in the know.

Have 30 baby chicks ranging from less than a week old to just over 3 weeks old. Nursing along some of the poor chicks (about 10) that are battling the "mystery illness".

Glad to see so many Washington people on here!

Welcome RedTailRanch. Just wondering, where is arbor crest, I have lived in the Spokane area all my life and havent heard of it. Is it near the Valley, or the north side? Also, have you heard about Somethin' to Crow Abouts chick sale on April 26th? There is more info under the show and sale area.

Arbor Crest Winery is east of Argonne just off of Upriver Dr. and near Hutton Settlement. You can see the Cliff House at the winery on the outcropping above the Spokane River.

Or, in essence, I am near Argonne and Bigelow Gulch.

We used to raise them and sold some of them locally a few years ago. We have one left and he is 11. We lost his mom to cancer when she was 8 or 9 and we think he has it too...
