Sheila is that you?
Yes you can eat the eggs, I even eat the eggs after I ivermec my birds, I am still alive and kicking.

Best of luck, is this

Yes, Terra it's me. I'll be calling you Tuesday or Wednesday with our meaties. I can't wait for the sunshine. I don't mind the cold weather, I just hate being wet.

I'm from Wenatchee! I have about 35 chickens right now with about 20 getting ready to hatch under a hen and in an incubator. I mostly have buff orpingtons, white leghorns, red broilers, black sex links and araucanas. I sell my eggs locally.

Hey NW Chicken People,

We live in Snohomish, WA and we just recently got our first chickens. Its been a very exciting process, puting the coop together, building a brooding box, picking up our chicks from the farm co-op and some more mature hens from a guy who had a few too many. And now all I can think about is getting MORE!

Its nice to find a site where we can learn about raising chickens and chat with local people about how fun it is.

Also, if anyone in Western Washington has laying hens they would like to sell, we would be interested. We have enough now that it doesn't make sense for us to buy a run from a hatchery. We are especially interested in Marans, Welsummers, Ameraucanas, Leghorns, Barnevelder and Penedesenca.

Welcome everyone!!!!

Your really close to me I live a little outside Cle Elum. Where did you get your chicks? Old Mill?? I love that store and their feed prices are reasonable, just to give you a heads up.

Hello there,

We live in the Port Orchard area, on 2 & 3/4 acres. We have 5 standard pullets (down from 8

) - 2 EE, 2 BSL, and 1 RIR. Currently they're free range, but we're re-thinking that in light of recent eagle incidents. Can you believe the weather we've had around here lately? Weird...

Anyone looking to get rid of or trade cockerals soon?

When I ordered my baby chicks back in December (for delivery in March) I did not know very much about them. I want to breed chicks for my own benefit, but I like brown or colored eggs. Of course, not knowing that the Roo will pass on the egg color gene, I got Ancona males because they were listed as being good at protecting the flock from predators. Since I am on acreage and want the flock to free range, I thought this was a good idea.

Anyway, my chicks are only a month old, so I am not in any hurry, but I would like to start looking now for someone who would like to trade. I know for sure that I have one Ancona male that I want to trade for either an EE male or a dark brown egg-gene male. I am especially interested in Barnevelders, Welsumers, GLW's, Dark Marans, Partridge Wyandottes, or Partridge Rocks.

I would prefer to find someone in WA or Northern Idaho, since I do not want to ship.

Thanks!

Chris in Spokane

Hello all,

We have lived for about 8 years in Oak Harbor WA., retired Navy 2 years ago and just recently moved up to Ferndale just North of Bellingham.
I was going to wait till I received the chickens I was going to order in a few weeks, before I signed on here. I had just about everything else bought then the wife decided to go into the local feed store and called me about 5 minutes before she got home to tell me to put everything together because she was bringing home what she was told were 5 two week old Buff Orpingtons with 95% chance of all being female, (I'll belive that when they all start laying).

This is our first time with chickens, so this first year will be very exciting. They seem to be doing fine so far and everyone wants to hold them. I know one of things on this site is everyone wants to see pics so I will post a few on the raising baby chicks thread.

RedTailRanch, if only I would have seen that you wanted roos earlier, I could have helped. I just culled off 3 welsummer cockerels this morning. We will have more welsummer chicks in about 2 weeks or less, if you still want one then I can sell you one, it would be like $1 or maybe even free.

Robert congrats on the chicks, they are addicting!!

Chris, Theyre may be someone soon who will have Marans Cockerels for sale. I will have them contact you if they do.

Diane, you did probably see my ad there, I need to sell them LOL

Welcome everyone!!
