My favorite part of most all dinners is the condiments or gravies...I can eat a big bowl of gravy like a porky pig breakfast, lunch and dnner, and I make awesome gravy !!!!!!!!!!!
I can eat gravy with nothing else !
I can eat gravy with a crust of bread or rice or taters...
I can eat gravy til I throw up!!!!!!!
Then go back for more, like chippiono !!!

The pain of being a fantastic cook.
If I made crummy gravy I would be alot thinner !

My Grandma from Missouri could make the most awesome fried chicken in a huge cast iron skillet and the most fantastc gravy...hey the chicken was good, but give this girl that gravy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, now I gotta do situps just because I was talking about gravy!
My Mom, now 76, has been regional manager for Jenny Craig, and worked before that for Nutri System for 20 years...so I behave myself around the gravy

until she isn't looking, you'd never know I was as old as I am in my Mom's kitchen...my brother is stealing hunks of stuffing...I get gravy from my own unstuffed turkey

I hope everything went good for the surgery.I've been checking into it myself.

Everything went great

Hardest part of everything was probably having anesthesia, which you'd have for any surgery. I was paranoid of it going in and I didn't like it coming out either. Took a while to wear off and I was throwing up. I'm definitely fine now, though. They didn't seem worried that the throwing up would hurt anything and it didn't so I'm good

If you're interested in it, it's definitely worth looking in to. There are a lot of hoops to jump through, mostly because of the insurance, but if you take it one step at a time, it's not too bad. I went to Portland for my surgery, but I'm sure there are good surgeons in Seattle also. I prefer dealing with Portland traffic to Seattle traffic. lol

Most all hospitals give morpine upon recovery room when your anesthesia wears off, and if you were throwing up you are maybe having a reaction to morpine, I do...and puking my guts out after C-sections was NOT FUN !
No morpine for me !

Well, by christmas, I'll be on soft foods and not on the liquid diet anymore, so will probably go for mashed potatoes and gravy
smile.png

Mashed potatoes and gravy is food of the Gods and Goddess !!!!!!!
wee.gif

While in nursing, I had a patient (geriatric male) who was introduced to me and I was told NEVER give this man any mashed potatoes !
He was sick of the mashed potatoes from having stomach cancer and subsequent surgeries that the old gent would launch his entire dinner plate should he find mashed spuds on it....and he did !!!
lol.png

Until I asked why, and he explained institutional food is awful and no one would give him gravy

so I solved that problem right there and then.
Goodnight all !
Hope you feel better La Sombra... and see you all tomorrow !

don't worry, you're not the only one. I couldn't eat at all this Thanksgiving. I just had lap-band surgery this past monday and am on a liquid diet for two weeks!! It will be worth the sacrifice, though

I a bit green with envy. I looked into the surgery, but sadly my insurance won't pay for it. I can't quite bring myself to owe 25,000 for the privilege of being thin again. I don't mind not eating, but even that doesn't seem to take any weight off. The insurance would rather pay for all the health related problems of to much overweight, than for a guarantee of success.

Well, keep your eye on your plan and keep checking on it because more and more, the insurance companies are covering the lap band. It really is dumb of the insurance companies not to pay for it, especially since it will cure many cases of diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, etc. and they don't have to pay for the upkeep of those health issues. but yeah, I wouldn't have paid for it myself out of pocket either. It's just too expensive for the regular person to pay for...

We met up with both of my older brothers this afternoon. It is the first time in nearly 25 years that the 3 of us older kids have been in the same place at the same time. We had a nice time, everyone was on their best behavior.

Cheryl; I would almost consider taking the 2 year old. I am sure that the 2 of us could whip up some trouble.

So is anyone interested in doing another potluck this February? I know that we could get the Enumclaw Senior Center for 20.00 per hour plus the insurance rider, as long as nothing has changed in the past year. The group is bigger this year.
