I hear ya though all of the new stuff is junk. Ya gotta have a computer to work on it and there aren't many true mechanics left. They are just parts changers and the computer tells them what part to change. Give me pre 80's and I can make it purr but most of the stuff after that is just more weight in a load of scrap.

I'd steer way clear of that one .... it'd be easier to tear down and rebuild, and I would never go through that process again!

We have a custom built home and it cost 3X what we were expecting to pay. The highest it ever appraised at, 8 years ago, was only half the construction cost. I don't even want to know what we are at now. We can't sell because we are so far upside down.

Why would you do that? Don't know what the type is on your Blue or Black Orps but the Lavenders type isn't that great right now. You need to breed the Lavenders to high quality Black Orps and thats all. If you want to breed for Blues breed them to the Blacks.

The thing is, I've seen some very good Blue Orps out there, and in fact, the English Type will likely boost the Lavenders ahead faster than the Blacks will. All that she needs to do is cull out the blue splits, use the black splits.

I think using blue is fine if you don't have any blacks available and if your blues are of great quality.

It sounded to me by her post she was thinking of breeding them for the heck of it to see what she would get. She didn't mention anything about type in her post, and if she was working on the Lavender project and had both Blue and Black birds, then black would be the first choice as long as it had better type than the Lavender. The originator of the Lav Orp discourages the use of Blue but don't ask me to remember why. I think it had something to do about either Lav color quality, maybe had something to do with eliminating the flecks in the hackles or feather quality. I'm going to have to PM her again. I guess if a typy blue is all you have theres no one stopping you.

Nice load.

My oldest son wants a 68 to 72 GMC pick-up. He turns 14 in 2 weeks and want us to take him to the dmv to get a learners permit.

I am so glad those days are behind me. We made the mistake of thinking that because DH and I are very good drivers that so would our kids. Well I don't know what went wrong with DD. That girl is still a scary driver. She has no instinct or intuition for driving. DS on the other hand was backing the van and trailer up for before he was 14. Expect for him being a bit to self assured, he is a good driver. I still happiest when I am driving by myself though.

Okay I will jump into the Ford verses Chevy debate. I have owned both, and I now drive a Volvo.

Oggress. If your kids haven't seen Snoqualmie falls when it's like this it's worth a trip.
Dress in rain gear cause you get sprayed real good even standing that far up.

I grew up in a mainly Ford family. But find I prefer GM. Ford cars earlier than 85 are junk. Ive had MUCh better luck with GM than ford or any other make. lol My first truck was a 78 F-100 I loved that truck, I beat the crud out of it, and never could kill it. Its still being driven around locally by family I sold it too. My first car was a 74 Mercury Grand Marqui "sp?" I loved that huge old boat! Thing was 21' 8" long, and close to 8' wide. I swear the doors alone on that thing weighed at least 400lbs! SO BIG!!! lol I also had a 58 ford F-100 lightening, had the wrap around front and rear glass, 3 on the tree shifter. Its what I learned to drive a clutch in. lol Made quite a few peolple nervouse down in mertile edwards park. lol Thing was HUGE and oh so loud. And the next big car that I will never forget is the 68 lincoln continental, gold with suicide doors. What a throaty beast she was!
