Sometimes ducks will pip that early and then nothing for a few more days and then go again about day 25-26.

I have had Muscovies go as long as 42 days with a four hour power outage.

We are in Kingston, across the pond from Seattle. If we get it going, this will be our first endeavor in chickens. We are excited, but we are hoping to learn before we leap, which is rather unusual for us.

Leap in before we scare you away! It's fun; we got our first chickens in July ... they have a way of multiplying, even if you only have hens, and it's not by parthenogenesis. A checkbook is usually involved (those darn chickens, I should have taken the advice of another member and not used sensitive documents such as bank statements and checks to line the coop poop trays.) We are currently building a larger coop....

We achieved parenthood of a few Nigerian Dwarf goats a few years ago, and they seem to multiply quite readily, themselves. It is fairly certain that the chickens will do the same here, once Rikke decides they are not too messy. Being we plan to free range them as much as possible, she is a bit queasy on the thought of poop everywhere, not that there isn't already goat berries everywhere.

The water is just fine so jump right in here. And don't worry we have our own addiction support group. It goes kind of like this..... Well you don't have many chickens you need more..... looks like you need to expand yer coop as you have a few too many chickens in there...... WOW look at that huge coop you need more chickens to fill it and on and on. More chickens bigger coop more chickens bigger coop !!! We will egg ya on all the way.
