If it ever gets too bad, you can come hug a goat, it doesn't fix things, but it surely makes them feel a lot better

What is a victims panel? My friend had to go to one for domestic violence (she broke the mirror off her boy friends car during a argument) but she went for 3 hrs. to that-do they have different ones for different situations?

The victims panel that my husband has to attend is a 6 hour sit down. State patrol makes them watch video of wrecks, aftermath, hospital ER's, then they bring in the families/victims that have been affected as guest speakers. Who then tell their there experience, speak of their losses, and just let the particapents have it. I think its a great program, but I wish they would be more strict! There are WAY to many repeat offenders out there, "in the same court room there was a man who was charged with his 5th DUI!!! YES 5 DUI's and they released him!!!" who shouldnt get more than one chace to not do it again. Did you know in Turkey, they shoot you on site for driving drunk? Or at least I think it was Turkey... Washington, well really the entire US is WAY to lenient on drunk drivers.

Dont get me wrong. I love my DH, and I'm glad he is alive and not in jail. But this should never have happened, and it will not happen by him again.

a couple years ago, I was hit by a drunk driver as I was going to Fred Meyer in Bonney lake. I was coming down Hwy 410 from Buckley. He was coming down a very straight long road that had a "t" stop into 410 at a very high rate of speed. He didn't stop, the road was wet. He hit me, spun me clean around so I was headed back home, totaled my car--he kept going and tried to run from the scene. Too many people saw him go, chased him down, when he tried to make a different 90 degree turn and flipped himself, the people caught up with him and beat the crud out of him. He was fine of course, and what they did was WAY more gratifying than what our lovely state did for me. They gave him a slap on the wrist and said.. Naughty Man, don't do this again. (this was his third offense). They tried to accuse me of being AT FAULT??!! It was a mess and my shoulders and neck are still messed up from the impact. I never got a lawyer, I shoulda. aw well. He was driving a bronco, I had a little Celica. Smash.

I am glad your husband is ok Cheryl..

but I hope he never drives drunk again.

That is an interesting idea, where the youth (all) are sent to those type of panels to sit in and hear what's going on and see the videos etc, as part of their driving school program. Yes, might be a bit traumatizing on the kids, but, that might get the idea through the concrete.

I wonder if there is any to send a soon to be or young driver to a Victims panel.

I think they do send people to drivers education classes but they should have young drivers go out with police, ambulance drivers and the county coroner to the actual accident site. But I also think all sex education classes should have the students go be a part of the delivery room staff at a hospital.

My Brother is a California Highway Patrol Officer. Drunk Driving and Innatentive driving really upset him. He posts videos onto my facebook sometimes (not of the accident scenes he goes to but video clips that are meant for distribution). I delete them pretty quickly as they are often too graphic, and it makes me very depressed to see them, all those lives lost. I can forward some to you and you can be the judge if you would like your son to see them.

Oh around here anyone can goif you pay the $20. His is just court ordered. I think it would be a great thing for new drivers to at least see the least significant videos... Not sure that they would need to see all the real gore that they show though.

DO keep in mind that people that use their cell phones, read books, their kindle and such while driving are just as bad.

12 chick minimum @ $9.50/chick (or thereabouts) + $45 for the shipping & box. Really all we would want is 2 or 3. Maybe we can just buy a couple from someone. ???

Oh, my gosh.....I have a bird shipping box - or did. It was left out in the shed. I don't think it got thrown away. I will try and find it this weekend. You guys are welcome to have it if I can find it. I will let you know. I can get it to Heather or I can mail it to you Pitter Patter.

IDK. Maybe we aren't the best to handle the ordering since we really only want a couple. Illia, if your up for it, maybe you can add 2 chicks onto your order (I know you're not into splitting an order) and we'll come pick them up after brooder status or later for your regular pricing of a sexed pullet. Would that work? Again, we're in no rush to get them as we're searching for a new 'homestead' (Lol, not quite as we're looking in North Seattle or Edmonds)

This is very true. It is just as dangerous to talk, text, use gps, ect as it is to drive drunk... And every day I see people doing it. I wont even bother to LOOK at my phone when I'm driving let alone answer it.
