Thanks. The delaware wasn't one of my favorites and the leghorn hadn't layed since May and woudn't let anyone get near her. Sad to lose them but, its best that it was those two. I am picking up a Brown leghorn, A black sexlink and a California white tomorrow. they are 14 weeks old. so I am HAPPY

Diane Mitchell used to work in Woodinville, but it looks like she's in Juanita now. She's very nice, (I met her because I used to work for her husband way back in 93 - 98). I know she specialized in birds back then, though I took my cats to her. I also remember that the practice she was at in Woodinville was bloody expensive.

have you wormed her ?
Is she showing any weird signs like sneezing, head shaking, puffy face/eyes/gurgling breathing ?
I do not think there is anywhere to take her..(avian vets).......ask jbear or 4_HPoultryMom, they are in your area.
We usually have to solve these riddles by ourselves..search clues in web sites on disease and drop the clues here maybe we can help ya out!

that sounds really unpleasant ... I have never heard of doing that with pred, what a shocker! hopefully you dont get an episode again! I have Crohns and all of its evil wonders. I have some skin issues but nothing as bad as that. I can not take pred, it messed me up. they got me off of it as fast as possible, the high eye pressure can cause glaucoma so no more of that crap for me.
I love living out in the woods!! I have been thru raymond once or twice. very peaceful. I live on 13 acres way up above Monroe. quiet here too. I have to be careful about what I eat so raise my own pigs and beef and now chickens for eggs...and hatching...dang it. I do have coyotes and yesterday a young one that had been hanging out finally got to close to my fenced yard with my dogs in it... he was stalking them. so I stalked him back. I found him up on my hill and took a shot at him with a mini 14 but I missed, breathing to hard and then I took a deep breath like your NOT supposed to do and pulled up when I shot. so I missed him but he left the county in a hurry. hope he stays away. ..

I didnt bother to ask as they let someone come in and sell exotic animals and 2 of them were snakes!!!! I cant be in the same room as pythons. So I high-tailed it out of there. I'm ok with garden snakes but the others give me the willies.....

No, I haven't wormed her yet (I'm sifting thru posts to try to figure out how to get started there). No other odd behaviors (like sneezing, head shaking, puffy face/eyes/gurgling breathing). She just seemed to fluff up and sit still a lot outside today, which is unusual. When I brought her home a month ago she had a bit of a poopy bottom and does again (I cleaned a bit of it off today, but didn't want to stress her too much), but when I isolated her today I could see her poop and it seemed normal. I think she's slowed down on laying, if not stopped in the last few days.

I bought her and another BR from the same place and the other BR seems perfectly normal. And my original 5 pullets that I've raised from chicks (I got them last Spring) seem perfectly normal too. Ugh, I hope I'm not going to learn a hard lesson about bringing in new chickens to my flock. :-(

Anyone have recommendations for an avian vet near Duvall? I have a 7+ month BR pullet I purchased a month ago that isn't acting quite right... a bit listless and could be eating better (poop seems normal). If things don't improve I need to figure out where to take her. Any advise other than isolating her and keeping a close eye on her? I put a little Apple Cider Vinegar in her water and she seemed to like that ok.

Thanks!
Amy

No, unfortunately I don't know of one. Have you isolated her? What other symptoms does she have? Have you checked for mites/lice? Does her vent look ok? Is she laying? If you can give us more details we can try and help. I usually do what I can for them at home and that's about it.

CL, Jbear doesn't live near me! She's about 1 hr or more south of here.

Yes, please post pics of the girls and Larry too! I had planned to get some Serama eggs from Jen at the Monroe show! Can't wait to see!!

This is Larry, he is just a pet although not tame yet. he is about 6 or 7 months old. Larry is unique, least I think so anyway, Larry never shuts up, he marches around the yard carrying on a conversation with the ground. he gripes and grumbles and Deb calls him the auctioneer lol. his other unique thing is he is marked half and half. one side of Larrys breast is blue with red lacing, the other side is blue with blue lacing. it is not quite in a straight line down his chest but close enough. he has like 3 tan feathers right in the middle of his neck that reminds me of a bowtie. Anyway he worked so hard to woo those big ol orp girls and when the big rooster came here...he was so dejected his tail has been half mast a lot. he isnt sick but I think bummed. so he will be happy with his new wives
